Hmmmm, I just tipped 3mm of dead spiders out of my rain gauge. Speaks volumes to the weather we have had.

Rain! At last! Thought we'd missed out but the storms just appeared to the north of us and moved south straight across us.

Heaps of Lightening & Thunder to the North of Wyndham Vale. Few spits of rain, lets hope it hits here!

Seabreeze seems to be breaking down on doppler, storms should fire up again soon.

Rain and thunder for us but the bulk of the storm passed to my east, great light show though.

Interesting, more coming it looks like from the NW.

Seriously, I though the steering was going to be NW today but it seem to be NNE although signs it might have gone a touch more NW in the last frame. Still ridiculously frustrating.
It did go off indeed. I am in New Gisborne at the moment with the folks and was watching it all slide by the west towards Blackwood till a few cells merged and all hell broke lose. Flangs and all was insane! Still see lighting off towards Melbourne was from here. Considering I am in Tarneit (Hoppers area) this was a treat considering nothing that happens in Werribee

appears to be dying, i no longer hold much hopes for storms or even decent rain here tonight, something is still causing it to favour the ranges more

There's still flashes of lightning here in Templestowe. No more rain or thunder, just lightning! Hopefully it doesn't cause fires.

Welcome back to the AWF Sal :) I'm sure one of the savvy weather people will be able to tell you unless they are all tucked up in bed now :)

Surely there's something wrong with Melbourne's gauge. It can't be 0.0mm! http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60901 ... 4868.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

what is the reason storms keep evaporating on radar over the suburbs ?

i noticed it even reformed over the peninsula..

was it the sea breeze, i still cant work it out they look to be forming most other areas tonight, but still evaporating before getting here

i really hope some decent rain comes before long

awesome pics rikki! I wish I could get shots like that!

anywho

I was woken this morning at 02:22 by the heaviest rain and hail! Awesome storm just erupted! Out of nowhere really. There was hail to start with ~10mm in diameter then torrential rain, it only lasted 15mins for 14mm!

More of the same for today and well right up until midweek looking at the forecasts!

Well some good falls from those storms if you were lucky enough to get under one.
Mernda in Melbourne's outer north got 66mm's and that was the standout fall.
I was lucky to get 1mm and a few rumbles YTD now 28mm's.
Today doesnt look as active I think and this mid level cloud that's around wont help.
I think most of the activity will be west of Melbourne today with a chance of storms about the ranges but particularly to the NW of the City.
Slight chance again of storms in the outer northern suburbs but not expecting anything down my way.
