Extremely dark here at work now. Just came over real suddenly about half an hour ago, and air feels very "thick" really wasn't expecting anything but a little bit of rain today, but something feels like there is potential for more than just a few drops.
I would say a good portion of that 6mm we had last evening was dried today with the temps and the wind. Crops are still looking ok around here but until a bigger event delivers they are just running out of go juice. Hope those changes in the IO have some effect real soon. Another couple of weeks and a big swathe on NW Vic will be toast I am afraid. The guys that got a good drink from those storms around the Murray will be laughing now. Got the double whammy year of good yields and prices......as long as the weather behaves at harvest, unlike the last time we had warm water off the NW coast in summer...... Remember that?
Yes I think you are right James, seems to be getting interesting as the white specks move closer into the radar ranges.
Would watch carefully the cell just gone through Lal Lal. Could be making some noise soon about the outer western suburbs and it should cross the bay into the inner SE suburbs too.

North Central and
West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Ballarat, Seymour, Geelong, Melbourne and Traralgon.
We just get the next door neighbours with the huge pines on our north side burning off all day. Gets annoying having your house in a shroud of smoke when you know there is some sun shining out there
Was at work from 12pm today, but I managed to score my break at perfect timing for a lovely line of thunderstorms to move over this afternoon. Heavy rain for about 20 minutes, delivered 10mm into the gauge, and beautiful thunder and lightning. We had flang after flang at a few stages this evening. Lovely first thunderstorm of the season for us!! and great forecasting by the AWF, the forecasts last night and this morning had the storms as at least a risk today!! BoM didn't even mention them.

Still nice and green and moist here. Lovely weather. Mild
The wind was a bit ferrel on the plains here today. So indoor day here.
A bit annoyed some veges starting to go to seed now? silverbeet and greens?
So do they know it will be a dry spring? I have no idea!
Well the storms did kick on a bit last night given all the negativity. More of that please lol - seems to work a treat!
10mm down at the bottom of the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsula again, 12mm at the Prom and up to 5mm in local spots across Melbourne. Had 2mm last night.
Heavy showers passing through at the moment, may even have a chance of throwing out a spark and a rumble too.
Conditions easing this afternoon.
Sunday's front does look similar with the chance of thunderstorms along the change.
Looking like cloud will cap the heatwave for next week and a front moving through Monday will nulify the high for Victoria mid week. I think it is looking normal for the state for late September.
Anyhow more on that later.
Forecasts are up and as per normal. Showers clearing this evening, local hail in the east is possible. A repeat system tomorrow night and into Sunday morning with another shortwave on Monday.
10mm looks good.
Had 4mm here at home today and 2mm overnight. Was a good drop in the end considering the air was dry.
Dams copped the best of it and will charge to 80% as we go into a warmer week.
