My bet is it could be sleeting heavily up there and possibly even a bit of snow. Only a chance for this though but it will be very cold, a bit windy and probably close to zero visibility up there. It won't be much of a dawn I'm afraid. My estimate of the temp up at the cross at dawn on Wednesday is about 2C.
Thanks for the kind words All is well, just some solid mopping up - I was standing under the unit when the water came flying out ! So I got a shower whether I wanted it or not. But all done, just not going to turn on the unit for a while I think !
But given how much came down in a such a short space I'm not really surprised that the overflows pipes packed it in. I've not seen rain that full on for quite a long time. Come to think of it I don't remember having so many consecutive days of storms (certainly at this time of year) for ages!
10mm all up today here so pretty happy with that, maybe another 5mm tommorow here, but down south looks like some very nice falls will develop. Bit dissapointing NW vic not going to get much out of this, would have been perfect timing for the autumn break but it will happen there. Looking forward to seeing this low develop over the next 12 hours.
If the low heads inland and over the alps, Melbourne might end up in a Southeasterly flow (and thus Tasmanian rain shadow) tomorrow night which may mean the BOM could be tad overly optimistic wrt rainfall totals.
Perfect timing of this first rain band will ensure a cold first half of the day with temps probably not climbing over 10 until later on. The bureau also has a flood watch for Melbourne with rainfall between 60-100mm according to them.looking good fellow AWF-ians.

Don't know why you're looking at Meredith Stefan, look how the rainband is building and intensifying as it approaches Melbourne and surrounds.
It is quite normal for a rainband to intensify as it rises up over the ranges, and to then die away after it crosses them.
Had 3mm this morning, then sun came out for 30 mins but now looking real rainy to my SW. Showers intensifying through the SW districts now and will thicken as the day unfolds for another burst of heavier rain later.
20mm here in Boronia.
8.8 deg C.. not even close to 16 or AV's 14..
