Well we have already had over 50mm here, another 50mm is all but assured, but i still think more, closer to 150mm out here once its all done. Also not forgetting that we will have an upper cold pool which the models are handling atrociously at this point to also give big falls late week.

Still looks the goods to me, still 29 out West and starting to lift nicely, all the way down to cape Otway so not going anywhere in a hurry.

59.6mm here from last night to now. All of a sudden we have gone from having a rather dry summer to now being 14mm ahead of the summer average. Only January will go down in history as being a dry month for the 2011/2012 summer. I know it's a vastly different story for the western third of the state but that's just the way it goes I guess.

Anything could happen tonight. We could potentially get another 50mm here on the central ranges depending on what the band does to our west and also the rain coming down from the north. It looks very interesting again for the east as well. Already a whole swag of 50-100mm falls out there and one total near Seymour of 129mm for the past two days!

Just great DB and AV. My gauge showing 75mm since last night here although the Mansfield weather site showing around 50 mm and only 2 kms away.

Think that could double by this time tomorrow. Current conditions: heavy, tropical rain no wind.

Feel like I'm getting left behind a bit here, only 33mm so far, but that's from a direction that doesn't usually produce for me, so not a bad start at all! SO much more to come!

On radar - a very interesting setup!! From Heathcote, I have a large swathe of rain tracking se towards me. From the west, is that line from this arvo - moving east!! Radio static building.

Don't worry Geoff, sitting on 35mm here after 2mm today, glad I got that rain last night all I'd be sitting on single figures. Got what we were forecast here though and tanks nearly full so it's been great. Not expecting much here tonight, might scrape 5mm, east of here will do well.

Rhino. :) :)

Could the rain from the north feed into the band from the west? Looks fairly good none the less. ;)

Interesting anti clockwise swirl on the 64km BOM radar just after 7pm. Does anyone have an explanation please for this? (At the centre)

I am watching this above me too.. i can see the clouds move... not on the radar but watching them is insane... the storm was coming in from the west but the clouds were moving in quick from the east....... ( I am a rookie remember) LOL... so I have no idea!!!

Had 42mm last night ( dunolly) :P in a storm .. with copious amounts of cloud to cloud lightning. as far as the eye could see in all directions
All the cloud to ground bolts were around serpentine area to our north. Strong rain rates with sheets of water flowing over paddocks.
So relieved to have some decent rain. Our average for Feb is around 33m so we easily had the months mean in the space of an hour and a half
Very little rain or activity here today. Spent the day in the garden and had 6mm of light drizzle on and off.
That dump last night brought us just about to average for Jan and Feb combined. currently 64mm YTD
The change( of you could call it that) has crept in very slowly. Just starting to feel a little cooler and less muggy. Southerlies pushing up into the western district and air is mixing around. One more band to potentially push through here but looks quite tame to the west atm. maybe a bit of drizzle here tomorrow

currently have some fast moving low level scud travelling down south at a rate of knots and yet no wind on the surface and mid cloud is also stationary.
weird to watch..

Ballarat aerodrome 46mm so far with 18.7 deg c temp and 18.7 deg c dew point atm

They are close to merging. I am expecting up 2-3 hrs of solid rain here - with embedded storms. Current rain total - 73.6mm and rising - for the event.

Just adding 2 pics I took whilst driving to and from Bendigo today!! These were taken in Myers Flat a few Ks North Of Bendigo. Caused by the massive amount of rain clearly, but something i do not want to see again in a long time!!!

Noticed the same thing. Obviously, something wrong.

I would say it has just flattened out to a rain depression and that ends the storms.
@The_FishmanAU is all I need to say.

Amazing to watch that south-western band from Ararat to Ballarat form up out of absolutely nothing radar-wise at 3.30 or so, and become a major rainband that's still going over 4 hours later. 12 mm so far, on top of 8 mm to 9 am so nothing compared to some, but definitely a 'pass' at 20 mm and it may go higher yet.
