And i thought the thunder i heard earlier was the loudest. NO WAY. Just had the brightest light with the loudest thunder. Power went off for 3 seconds then came back on. That was close. Never had the power go off at the same time as thunder.

Its coming alright, look at the band forming now through to SA..

Scary thing is the upper trough and cold front that is set to amplify across Vic wont be until tomorrow so we will see 2 rainbands with extreme rainfall in the space of 24 hours.

I honesty have to say I think I'd be close to that too, this is the heaviest rain I've ever see in Melbourne in my life. It's like a monsoon.

Wow, the temp just went UP two degrees here!! :o

Had steady rain between 6 and 7, this has now dried up. But the sky is looking very ominous to the SE...wind has just picked up and is very warm, feels like the storm is possibly pushing warm air ahead of it?? Would this be correct can anyone tell me? :dunno:

hmmm, just watched a very black band go by to the south (almost a shelf) and finally a bit of heavy rain, sporadic gusts - no wait, rain died off again. No flashes or rumbles either. BUT at least the sauna conditions have eased a little - we had condensation on the outside of the house windows - must be a first !

WHOA - heavens opened and windy - but its so sudden - on, off, on etc

14 mm in 5 minutes, almost white out, suprising lack of wind at this stage.

The band from southern nsw is hitting us now, very heavy rain, lightning and thunder, I am sure around benalla will cop a belting very shortly, forgot to add 25ml in about 15 minutes

Woah....

34mm so far in the last 15 mins, or so. Falling at a max rate of 184mm/h. The house is fine, but I'm surrounded by a moat. Flash flooding in the street and the drains cannot cope. Taken a few pics and vid with my new cam. Will post at some stage!

Eased off abit now.

Very dark and menacing looking clouds went over about five mins ago with plenty of swirling lower and mid level cloud, and now it's opened up nicely in the past few minutes. Sheets of rain belting across from west to east.

The pager is quiet. For now.

Only had 2.5mm in the gauge at 7am this morning so it's about due for a topup.

Ohhh its all gone N and S of us now. Only 3mm here :( This may be one where we miss out every time despite what the models are saying. Yep, looking at it all coming down through the NW and it is all going to miss us just to the north. Desperately unlucky unless something changes here.... :?

EDIT: Hopefully it's just in the radar hole, forgot about that

EDIT 2: DP Has quickly spring up here, from 22 about 10 minutes ago to 24.9 now. T 24.9/DP 24.9 INSANE conditions here. Condensation on Cabinet doors and glass doors that i've never seen before

Nice shots, Rikki! At least you didn't come away totally empty handed.

Did you take the 2nd one while driving?
