Maybe I should of stayed at work, would of stood a better chance of getting some action this evening.
Avalon & Werribee seem to be getting smashed going by the radar!
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.
Wow, not only has Mildura already recorded it's highest February rainfall only 4 days into the month but has also recorded it's highest ever January rainfall and highest yearly rainfall last year -just amazing
Went for a quick drive to find a good view of the cell that crossed the bay. Some awesome lowering and scud, plus a beautiful guster at the front. Unfortunately I could not find a clear enough view to stop and take photos
Right now though I am getting a little frustrated with the mid-level violet that is around
point cook has missed a bit compared to werribee. 1km down the road has flash flooding whilst our road is barely wet! We should cop the next round though- its imminent!
I'm noticing that the cold front south of bight has a lot of grunt and cold air behind it. Could be some real fireworks tomorrow with an Antarctica vs Yasi punch up...
Closer to now, some development near Stawell & Ararat atm.

Yeah GFS was showing that around 7 days ago - that did well on that one! JUST GOT BIG LIGHTNING HERE OUT OF NOWHERE!
That line curling up just south of Bacchus Marsh looks like it could have a bit in it, and could be the first cell to directly hit us here in Burwood. Could be on like Donky Kong!!! Some interesting doppler signatures around too.
A very amazing day thunderstorms wise. It looks like all areas except the southwest are in for showers and storms tonight and heavy rain tomorrow (the stuff that is moving into NW Vic now). Lots of huge falls 100-200 mm or more with the southwest seeing 10-20mm. Big contrast.
Reached 28 degrees here today with DP's generally at 23 degrees. Currently 23 with some convection, but not doing much. There was a heavy shower earlier today which delivered 1mm.

Think we are about to get the leading edge of the main event.... had some heavy bursts and heaps of thunder. Mozzies are so bad it has forced me indoors
AWF SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ADVICE Please use official warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology for professional services.
A line of persistently back-building severe thunderstorms is positioned over parts of the Melbourne region currently. These thunderstorms are extending from the east near Warragul to the west near Mt Mercer, and are likely to produce damaging winds and flash flooding. Huge falls of up to 60mm have been recoreded in southeast suburbs with flash flooding. Further flash flooding likely. GEELONG should also be prepared for severe thunderstorms shortly.
