Laane now punching out 2560ML an hour at 2.05am. Major Flood event for downstream Loddon is usually 1790ML/h

I can honestly see it get to 4100ML an hour later today.

November 28th i think was 3125ML and was severe.

Would love a humidity-free night right now! Sleep is almost impossible!

The rain yesterday was pretty heavy at times. I think we got something in the range of 20-30ml. Judging by what people are saying though, this morning could be worse. Hope it doesn't get too bad.

Am also really looking forward to seeing those pictures tomorrow Brad. :D

Cheers, Cam

33.4mm so far, 51.2mm for the event. wind gusting to 63km/h at times, possible only a couple of mm for the Melbourne area at best overnight now with this wind and humidity dropping. Rain clearing western Victoria now.

Still happy with the totals. :D

Not far from finishing up here now thankfully. Wind has turned WSW and is quite cool outside now. 43mm in the gauge so I would guess we have had about 80mm for the 24hrs.

Severe Weather Warning
for damaging winds and flash flooding
for people in the North Central, Northern Country, Central, West and South Gippsland, East Gippsland and North East forecast districts

Issued at 4:41 am EDT on Friday 14 January 2011.
Weather Situation

A low pressure system is currently situated south of Warrnambool and is moving southward. An associated low pressure trough over western Victoria will move across central districts during this morning and early afternoon and over eastern districts later in the day.

Damaging winds averaging 70-80 km/h with gusts to around 100-120 km/h are forecast to continue over elevated areas of the North Central, Central, North East and Gippsland districts today, easing from central districts during the early afternoon. Isolated gusts of 120-140km/h are possible about exposed peaks.

Wind gusts to 90 km/h are possible elsewhere in these districts, mainly associated with heavy rain.

Rain which may lead to flash flooding is forecast for the North Central, Northern Country, Central and North East forecast districts and parts of the West and South Gippsland forecast district.

The heavy rain will clear central districts during the afternoon following the passage of the trough.

Since 9am yesterday widespread falls of between 50 and 80mm have occurred through western and parts of central Victoria with some localised heavier rainfall totals recorded including 125mm at Mt William, 95mm at Lancefield, 81mm at Stawell and 80mm at Redesdale.

Wind gusts to around 100km/hr have been observed in elevated locations with the strongest 111km/hr at Benn Nevis.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am EDT Friday.

Looks like there is still a fair bit to come yet, most of the rain is still in the radar hole so it will appear to thicken up this morning. Good falls of 80-100mm through the Stawell/ Mt William area.

56.9mm event total so far, hopefully another 10mm before it's all done.

Just touching base here and letting everyone know what's going on in Carisbrook. MaCallums Ck still rising here, around 50cm higher than Sep flood and still waiting for whats coming from the overnight rains but at this stage does'nt look good for at least some of Carisbrook to go under. Sandbagging around different locations overnight and have'nt had much sleep, as most would'nt here, but at least if somethings going to happen it will be in daylight. Expecting news crews and plenty of onlookers come lunchtime and will make sure I get plenty of photos and post some later, going to be an absolute sight.
Have'nt checked the gauge yet since yesterday morning when I had 125mm for the event, over 200mm I'd suspect by now.

Edit...Just checked the gauge and have had 195mm for the event so far, 70mm since 9am yesterday.

Already had 37% of my yearly average in first 2 weeks of the year. :o :o

Rhino. :) :)

Another 20mm since midnight, with most of that falling since 5am. Around 150mm for event.

The system up in NSW seems to be moving more towards NE Vic but is also falling apart a bit. The western edge of the main band is near Swan Hill and that might be it. Some cooler temps and lower dew points appearing in Western Vic too atm.

Big problems with rivers around here though. Campaspe is flooding parts of Kyneton and is likely to cause chaos downstream of Eppalock as well later today.

A nice dry gauge reported at home, 0mm overnight so my total remains at 70mm. Bit of a shock considering the things I was reading forecast wise last night.
May get another 1-5mm at the most this morning but thats about all.

Timster, I'm really sorry to hear your news :( Thinking of you and others in the area today and wishing there was more I could do than pass on my "thoughts". I've experienced flooding, it can be exhausting, harrowing and a complete pain in the butt all at once. Good luck, buddy and let us know here if you need help in any way.
