These situations are tricky and your rainfall is determined by the movement of the low up here in the NT which is dragging tropical monsoonal air over me right now. How far south that can push still remains to be seen but I still think 200mm widespread is not out of the question for W and C areas.
Storms will be mainly embedded tomorrow and high humidity means no chance for clear air I am afraid regardless of thunderstorm forecast.
Starting to very convective now from the north, very heavy rain in Bendigo this morning..big totals as expected through west central and wimmera, 107mm at Mt William, and heaps of 60mm falls through the wimmera.
Should be an interesting day as it could get more convective this afternoon..
Another 7mm overnight so 87mm for event here at Scarsdale.
Will do a drive by of the Woady Yallock creek on the way to work and report if it's in flood.
Bracing for the next couple of days.
Stunning pick by GFS, been flawless of late. Concentrated the 200mm plus falls through the western half and that's exactly how it's panning out..really struggling to get anything decent this side of town, maybe today we might get something reasonable..
Truly a massive event and only halfway through, the heaviest yet to come.
Up to 58 mm for last two days and probably over 60 now as i type, not quite what Mt William and Horsham have had but already enough!
Some crazy amounts being forecast still to come for the west of the state, if they are correct we may be lucky down here and only get another 25 - 50 mm!
I woke to pouring rain here in Flinders this morning, but I won't check the gauge until 9am. Nothing recorded at home yet, and closest Wunderground station supports this...would have thought I'd have something by now... (must be because Karl is elsewhere!).
I'll let you know how much we've had here in about 40mins.
1mm from 0900hrs to 1730hrs, then 15mm to 0730hrs this morning.
Box Hill looked to have received a touch more given the debris strewn across the roads. A tight gradient given lesser falls to my east (Coldstream @ 6mm) and west (Viewbank @ 10mm).
101mm for the event here, 31mm overnight although did'nt seem that heavy, just goes to show how thick this tropical rain can be. The drizzle at the moment will give you 5mm/hr. Seems to be a bit of a clearance towards the NW on sat pick, give us a couple of hours of sun and it will be on big time in these conditions, wishful thinking I know.
