Every thing missed here today, but still got some interesting pics. The explosive convective and structure along that initial nth/sth line early this arvo, the mammatus under the dying Bendigo SC, and the Laverton cell this evening.

Here is a quick snap of the Monbulk cell with the black core that went up at 5:30 this afternoon.
Rest i'll post up in the photo section of the website. Some very nice rotation and lowerings as
you can see. Funnel cloud, who knows? But sure did look like something was trying to form.

Amazing images on the Yarrawonga radar this evening - I have a question for some of the experts out there:

What causes the line of storms you see - at first heading SWly then does an about turn NEly over a few hours! Never seen that before. My guess is it's a radar 'feature' with all the activity going on, but I guess it could be a real phenomena, because the doppler wind gives a lot away!! Very curious....

See the 128km radar sequence here:
http://www.theweatherchaser.com/radar-l ... 0-12-03-09

and the doppler wind

Would love to see the footage from Monbulk to see wind conditions over the region as it went through.

Rainfall of 50mm likely over the Bass Coast this evening.

Thunder and lightning to my East, and a brief torrential downpour of about 5ml in 10minutes. The most interesting thing has been the wind changes, its a while since we had a summer storm like this =)

We need good heat or a very good trigger...a lot of areas still in with a bit of a chance IMO because it is fairly warm and humid still. Next hour is best bet though. There may be some convection trying to get organised in some parts of Central now, not sure though. Radar looks interesting.

First up a shot of the monster bendigo cell from abbotsford!
Image

Then a shot of the Monbulk cell from the other side (east) You could make out some unreal hail shafts which I've emphasised with an alien infrared filter in the last photo :D
