Sorry but I have to ask. I note you keep mentioned that thunderstorms are underway or occuring...yet there is no detected storms anywhere in Victoria. Do you know something everyone else does not??Karl Lijnders wrote:AWF Update 4pm
Significant and widespread heavy rain is now underway over all C and NE VIC with embedded thunderstorms, flash flooding and river flooding developing.
Thunderstorms that are not lightning active (yet). Some very very heavy rain in some of these cells - that is what he is referring to.ShaneEEEE wrote:Sorry but I have to ask. I realise the tracker won't pick up weak in cloud stuff, but surely there would be some evidence if there were storms occuring?
All comes down to positioning of the band as it tilts before the wrap...will be close to the real heavy stuff, hard to put a figure on it.apocalypse wrote:How much you think we could get up here AV? We had 140mm only 2 weeks ago, and apparently there is already some flooding around Wagga. Not sure if from any creeks though or just local flooding in town. Am up to 11.1mm since this morning.

Just because there is very heavy rain falling doesn't necessarily mean it's coming from a thunderstorm. Without lightning being detected I don't know how you could possibly tell if there is technically thunderstorms amongst it all. Certainly can't decipher much from the blurry mess that the satellite is atm either.I_Love_Storms wrote:Thunderstorms that are not lightning active (yet).
