Flood Watch for the Barwon, Moorabool, Leigh and Hovells Creek Catchments and
Otway Ranges
Issued at 10:45 am EDT on Wednesday 13 October 2010

A low pressure trough is moving slowly across Victoria from the west during
Wednesday. A stronger cold front will approach western Victoria later on
Thursday before affecting Victoria on Friday.

In the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday rainfall totals of up to 29 mm have been
observed in the Barwon, Moorabool, Leigh and Hovells Creek catchments. Stream
rises have been observed, however no flooding is expected to develop.

Rainfall totals of up to 10mm have been forecast for the rest of Wednesday for
the Barwon, Moorabool, Leigh and Hovells Creek Catchments.


FLOOD WATCH FOR NORTH EAST VICTORIA (UPPER MURRAY, MITTA MITTA, KIEWA,
OVENS AND KING CATCHMENTS)

A low pressure trough over central Victoria will contract to eastern Victoria
this afternoon and will clear the State tonight. A strong cold front will
approach western Victoria later on Thursday before sweeping across the State on
Friday.

Areas of rain with locally heavy falls are forecast for the North East during
Wednesday. Rainfall totals of 25 to 40 mm are forecast with isolated totals up
to 60 mm possible on the ranges.

The forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises in the North East
catchments. If the rainfall is in the upper range of the forecast minor
flooding may develop late Wednesday into Thursday.


FLOOD WATCH FOR THE GOULBURN AND BROKEN BASINS

Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Seven and Castle Creeks
Issued at 4:51 pm EDT on Wednesday 13 October 2010

Since 9 AM Wednesday rainfall totals of up to 23 mm have been recorded in the
Seven and Castle Creeks catchment. Rainfall totals of up to 10 mm have been
forecast for the remainder of Wednesday.

Stream rises have been observed in the Seven and Castle Creeks and it is
expected that minor flooding will develop during Wednesday evening.

Seven Creeks
Seven Creeks at Strathbogie is currently at 1.17 metres (Minor Flood Level 1.5
metres) and rising. The creek is expected to peak around the minor flood level
during Wednesday evening.

Castle Creek
Castle Creek at Telfords Bridge is currently at 0.92 metres (Minor Flood Level
1.2 metres) and rising. Minor flooding is expected to develop in the creek
during Wednesday evening.

Euroa
Seven Creeks at Euroa is currently steady at 1.31 metres (Minor FLood Level 2.5
metres). The river is expected to peak around the minor flood level (2.5
metres) during Wednesday evening.



Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River upstream of Lake Hume
Issued at 1:25 am EDT on Thursday 14 October 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office


Since 9 am Wednesday rainfall totals up to 41 mm have been recorded in the
Upper Murray catchment. Rainfall totals of up to 5 mm have been forecast for
the remainder of Thursday.

Rainfall to date has caused stream rises in the Murray River catchment upstream
of Lake Hume and is expected to lead to minor flooding downstream of the
Khancoban storage during Thursday morning.

Upstream of Jingellic
Snowy Hydro advise that based on the current rate of rise of the inflows to
Khancoban Storage it is anticipated that releases will exceed the Minor Flood
Level (113m3/s) early Thursday morning.

The Murray river at Biggara is currently around 1.05 metres (Minor Flood Level
2.0 metres) and rising. The river is not expected to exceed the minor
flood level.

The river level for the Murray River at Bringenbrong is currently unavailable
due to technical difficulties. However it is expected that the river will
remain below the Minor Flood Level (3.0 metres).

Jingellic
The Murray River at Jingellic is currently around 2.71 metres (Minor Flood
Level 4.0 metres) and rising. A forecast for this gauge will be provided once
upstream gauges have peaked.

Seven Creeks
Seven Creeks at Strathbogie peaked at 1.55 metres around 10 PM Wednesday
evening (Minor Flood Level 1.5 metres). The creek is currently at 1.27 metres
and falling. The creek is expected to remain below the minor flood level for
the remainder of Thursday. Renewed stream rises are expected to occur as a
result of forecast rainfall.

Castle Creek
Castle Creek at Telfords Bridge is currently at 0.71 metres (Minor Flood Level
1.2 metres) and falling. The creek is expected to remain below the Minor Flood
Level. Renewed stream rises are expected to occur as a result of forecast
rainfall.

Euroa
Seven Creeks at Euroa is currently steady at 2.18 metres (Minor FLood Level 2.5
metres). The river is expected to remain below the minor flood level for the
remainder of Thursday. Renewed stream rises are expected to occur as a result
of forecast rainfall.

the State on Friday. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on
Saturday and extend a ridge over northern Victoria on Sunday.

Widespread rain with locally heavy falls are forecast for the North East
starting midnight Thursday. Rainfall totals of up to 50 mm are forecast with
possible isolated totals of up to 75 mm.

Recent rainfall has caused stream rises in the North East catchments, with a
Minor Flood Warning current for the Murray River u/s of Lake Hume. The forecast
rainfall is expected to cause renewed stream rises with possible further
flooding developing during Friday.

the State on Friday. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on

Rainfall totals of 10 to 30 mm are forecast overnight Thursday into Friday. The
forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises in the North West
catchments. If the rainfall is in the upper range of the forecast minor
flooding may develop on Friday. The main concern is for the Loddon and Campaspe
rivers.

parts of the Murray River catchment upstream of Lake Hume.

Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River upstream of Lake Hume
Issued at 12:01 pm EDT on Thursday 14 October 2010

Re-issued to update the Releases from Khancoban storage, the forecast for the
Murray River at Bringenbrong, and the next issue date.

In the 24 hours to 9 am Thursday rainfall totals up to 44 mm have been recorded
in the Upper Murray catchment. No significant rainfall has been recorded since
9 am Thursday. No significant rainfall is expected for the remainder of
Thursday, however areas of heavy rain are forecast for the region during
Friday.

Rainfall to date has caused stream rises and minor flooding in the Murray River
catchment upstream of Lake Hume.

Upstream of Jingellic
Snowy Hydro advise that releases from Khancoban Storage are currently at 110
m3/s (Minor Flood Level 113m3/s).

The Murray river at Biggara is currently around 1.32 metres (Minor Flood Level
2.0 metres) and falling. The river is expected to remain below the minor flood
level during Thursday.

The Murray River at Bringenbrong peaked at 2.76 metres (Minor Flood Level 3.0
metres) during Thursday morning. The river is currently steady at 2.72 metres
and is expected to remain below the minor flood level during Thursday.

Jingellic
The Murray River at Jingellic is currently steady at 2.74 metres (Minor Flood
Level 4.0 metres). The river is expected to remain below the minor flood level
during Thursday.

Widespread rain with locally heavy falls are forecast for the Greater Melbourne
catchments overnight Thursday into Friday. Rainfall totals of up to 30 mm are
forecast with possible isolated totals of up to 60 mm.


The forecast is expected to cause significant stream rises with possible
flooding developing in the Greater Melbourne catchments during Friday. The main
concern is for the Yarra and Bunyip rivers.


The Bureau of Meteorology in conjunction with Melbourne Water are continuing to
monitor the situation.

FLOOD WATCH FOR WESTERN NEW SOUTH WALES

Issued at 2:08 PM on Thursday the 14th of October 2010

Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

A strong cold front approaching from the west is expected to interact with
cloud over the centre of the continent to bring significant rain to the state.
The rain is expected to move into the northwest later today then to the
remainder on Friday ahead of the cold front. Locally heavy falls are expected on
Friday west of the Divide. The rain will clear as the front passes through later
Friday or early Saturday, with showers persisting on the southwest slopes of the
ranges in the colder southwesterly airstream following the front.

From early Friday, there is a greater than 70% chance of minor to moderate main
river flooding as well as local flash flooding developing in the following river
valleys.

Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Campaspe River
Issued at 7:03 am EDT on Friday 15 October 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

Since Midnight Thursday rainfall totals of up to 16mm have been recorded in the
Campaspe River catchment. Further rainfall of 10 to 20 mm has been forecast for
the remainder of Friday. The catchment is wet due to rainfall that occured
earlier in the week and stream rises have been observed over the last several
hours. Further stream rises are expected with minor flooding occuring later
this morning.

Upstream of Eppalock
The Campaspe River at Redesdale is currently at 1.83 metres and rising (Minor
FLood Level 2.0 metres). The river is expected to exceed the Minor Flood Level
in the next several hours.


Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Kiewa River
Issued at 7:06 am EDT on Friday 15 October 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

In the 24 hours to 9am Friday, rainfall totals of up to 5mm have been recorded
in the Kiewa river catchment. Rain is falling in the Kiewa catchment at present
and further totals of 30 to 40 mm have been forecast for the remainder of
Friday. Rainfall over the last several hours has caused minor flooding on the
Kiewa River at Bandianna. Further stream rises are expected with the
possibility of moderate flooding during friday evening into Saturday.

AGL Hydro advises that releases from storages into the Kiewa River are
currently steady around 100 ML/hour.

Mongans Bridge
Kiewa River at Mongans Bridge is currently at 1.82 metres (Minor Flood Level
2.4 metres) and steady. Further stream rises are expected as a result of
forecast rainfall and are expected to lead to areas of Minor Flooding
developing throughout Friday. The river is expected to peak around the Moderate
Flood Level (3.5 metres) late Saturday.

The main channel of the Kiewa River is currently at 2.99 metres (Minor Flood
Level 3.3 metres) and rising slowly. Minor flooding is expected to develop
during Friday.

Bandiana
The Kiewa River at Bandiana is currently at 2.72 metres (Minor Flood Level 2.7
metres) and rising. The river is expected to peak around the Moderate Flood
level (3.1 metres) late Saturday.

mm have been recorded in the North East catchments with an isolated total of 53
mm at Rutherglen. Widespread rain with locally heavy falls are forecast to
continue for the North East during Friday. Rainfall totals of 50 to 75 mm are
forecast with possible isolated totals of up to 100 mm.

Recorded rainfall has caused stream rises and minor flooding in the North East
catchments, with Minor Flood Warnings current for the Murray River u/s of Lake
Hume and the Kiewa River. The forecast rainfall is expected to cause further
significant stream rises and flooding during Friday.

A strong cold front will sweep across Victoria today, reaching the Tasman Sea
tonight. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on Saturday and extend
a ridge over northern Victoria on Sunday.

In the 48 hours to 9 AM Friday widespread rainfall totals ranging from 20 to 40
mm have been recorded in the West and South Gippsland catchments with isolated
totals in excess of 50 mm at Mt Moornapa and Briagolong. Widespread rain with
locally heavy falls are forecast for the West and South Gippsland catchments
with totals of 30 to 50 mm expected during Friday.

Recorded rainfall has caused some small stream rises in the West and South
Gippsland catchments. The forecast rainfall is expected to cause significant
stream rises with possible minor flooding developing late Friday into Saturday.

In the 24 hours to 9am Friday widespread rainfall totals in excess of 20 mm
have been recorded in the Ovens and King River catchments with the highest
total of 53 mm recorded at Rutherglen. Widespread totals 50 to 75 mm have been
forecast for the remainder of Friday, with higher totals in excess of 100 mm
forecast for the alpine peaks.

The catchments are wet as a result of recent rainfall. This combined with
forecast rainfall is expected to lead to at least minor flooding during Friday.
If rainfall is in the upper range of the forecast then more severe flooding is
likely.

Ovens River upstream of Bright

The Ovens River at Bright is currently steady at 1.63 metres (Minor Flood Level
3.0 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises with the river
exceeding the Minor Flood Level during Friday evening.

Buckland River
The Buckland River at Harris Lane is currently at 2.01 metres and rising (Minor
Flood Level 2.8 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises
with the river exceeding the Minor Flood Level during Friday evening.

Myrtleford
The Ovens River at Eurobin is currently at 2.7 metres and rising (Minor Flood
Level 4.5 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises with the
river exceeding the Minor Flood Level during Friday evening.

Buffalo River

Upper King River
The King River at Cheshunt is steady at 0.75 metres (Minor Flood Level 1.8
metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises during Friday and
Saturday with the possibility of minor flooding.

Docker Road
The King River at Docker Road is at 1.69 metres and rising slowly (Minor Flood
Level 3.7 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream rises with the
river exceeding the Minor Flood Level during Friday evening into Saturday.

Wangaratta
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 9.53 metres and rising slowly
(Minor Flood Level 11.9 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause stream

Flood Watch For Greater Melbourne Catchments (Werribee, Maribyrnong, Yarra,
Dandenong And Bunyip)

A strong cold front will sweep across Victoria today, reaching the Tasman Sea
tonight. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on Saturday and extend
a ridge over northern Victoria on Sunday.

Widespread rain with locally heavy falls are forecast for the Greater Melbourne
catchments for the remainder of Friday. Rainfall totals of up to 30 mm are
forecast with possible isolated totals of up to 60 mm on the ranges.

The forecast is expected to cause significant stream rises with possible
flooding developing in the Greater Melbourne catchments during Friday. The main
concern is for the Yarra and Bunyip rivers.

Initial Moderate Flood Warning for the Mitta Mitta Upstream of Dartmouth
Initial Major Flood Warning for Tallangatta Creek
Issued at 1:25 pm EDT on Friday 15 October 2010

In the 24 hours to 9 am Friday widespread rainfall totals ranging from 20 to 30
mm have been recorded in the Mitta Mitta catchment. Rainfall totals of up to 48
mm have been recorded since 9 AM Friday.

Widespread rain with locally heavy falls are forecast to continue in the Mitta
Mitta for the remainder of Friday with further rainfall totals of 30 to 50 mm
expected.

Rainfall to date has caused stream rises and minor flooding in the Mitta Mitta
catchment. Significant stream rises are expected to continue with moderate to
major flooding developing during Friday and into Saturday.

Mitta Mitta upstream of Dartmouth
The Mitta Mitta River at Hinnomunjie is at 1.17 metres (Minor Flood Level 1.8
metres) and rising slowly. The river is expected to exceed the Minor Flood
Level during Friday afternoon. As a result of forecast rainfall the river is
expected to peak to around the Major Flood Level (3.0 metres) early Saturday
morning.

The Big River at Joker Ck is currently at 1.86 metres and rising. The river is
expected to peak around the Minor Flood Level (2.8 metres) overnight Friday
into Saturday.

Tallandoon
The Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon is currently at 1.84 metres and rising. The
river is expected to approach the Minor Flood Level (4.2 metres) overnight
Friday into Saturday. A forecast peak for Tallandoon will be provided once
upstream gauges have peaked.

Tallangatta Creek
Tallangatta Creek at McCallums exceeded the Minor Flood Level (1.6 metres)
around 11.15am Friday. The creek is continuing to rise sharply and is expected
to exceed the Moderate Flood Level (2.0 metres) in the next several hours. As a
result of forecast rainfall a peak around the Major Flood Level (2.3 metres) is
possible during Saturday morning.

2.0 metres) and rising. The river is expected to exceed the minor flood level
in the next few hours and will continue to rise to above the major flood level
during Friday afternoon.

The Murray River at Bringenbrong is currently at 2.44 metres (Minor Flood Level
3.0 metres) and rising. The river is expected to exceed the minor flood level
during Friday afternoon and will continue to rise to around the moderate flood
level (3.4 metres) late Friday into Saturday.

Jingellic
The Murray River at Jingellic is currently at 3.8 metres (Minor Flood Level 4.0
metres) and rising. The river will exceed the minor flood level during Friday
afternoon and is expected to continue to rise, exceeding the moderate flood
level (5.5 metres) during Saturday.

Since 9am Friday rainfall totals of up to 11 mm have been recorded in the
Campaspe River catchment. Further rainfall of 5 to 10 mm has been forecast for
the remainder of Friday. The catchment is wet due to rainfall that occurred
earlier in the week and stream rises have been observed during Friday. Minor
flooding is currently occurring and expected to continue throughout Friday and
into Saturday.

Upstream of Eppalock
The Campaspe River at Redesdale is currently peaking at 2.51 metres (Minor
FLood Level 2.0 metres). The river is expected to fall below the Minor Flood
Level early Saturday.

Severe Weather Warning
for people in the Alpine Areas, Western, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera, Central, West and South Gippsland, East Gippsland and Northeast forecast districts
Issued at 3:59 pm EDT on Friday 15 October 2010.

Weather Situation
A cold, fresh to strong southwesterly airflow will persist over Victoria tonight in the wake of the cold front which is now over the Tasman Sea.
The severe weather warning for the Alpine Areas, North Central, Central, East Gippsland and Northeast forecast districts and parts of the Northern Country, Wimmera, Western and West and South Gippsland forecast districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
Whilst the severe weather warning has been cancelled, snow to low levels is expected fall overnight - the snow level lowering to around 500 to 600 metres. Whilst wind gusts are no longer expected to exceed 90km/h, wind gusts in the 70's and 80's are still likely, particularly about coastal and elevated areas.

Moderate Flood Warning for the Kiewa River

Since 9am Friday widespread rainfall totals of around 25 mm have been recorded
in the Kiewa river catchment. Rain is falling in the Kiewa catchment at present
and further totals of 5 to 10 mm have been forecast for the remainder of
Friday.

Rainfall over the last several hours has caused minor flooding on the Kiewa
River at Bandianna. Further stream rises are expected with the possibility of
moderate flooding developing overnight Friday into Saturday.

AGL Hydro advises that releases from storages into the Kiewa River are
currently steady around 120 ML/hour.

Mongans Bridge
Kiewa River at Mongans Bridge is currently at 2.21 metres (Minor Flood Level
2.4 metres) and rising. The river is expected to exceed the minor flood level
during Friday evening and continue to rise to around the Moderate Flood Level
(3.5 metres) overnight Friday into Saturday.

The Kiewa River at Kiewa Main Channel is currently at 3.17 metres (Minor Flood
Level 3.3 metres) and rising slowly. The river is expected to exceed the minor
flood level during Friday evening and remain above the minor flood level during
Saturday.

Bandiana
The Kiewa River at Bandiana is currently at 2.87 metres (Minor Flood Level 2.7
metres) and rising. The river is expected to peak around the Moderate Flood
level (3.1 metres) during Saturday.

In the 24 hours to 9am Friday widespread rainfall totals in excess of 20 mm
were recorded in the Ovens and King River catchments with the highest total of
53 mm recorded at Rutherglen. Since 9 AM rainfall totals of up to 26 mm have
been recorded, with a further 10 to 20 mm forecast for the remainder of Friday.

The catchments are wet as a result of recent rainfall. This combined with
forecast rainfall may lead to minor flooding during Saturday.

Ovens River upstream of Bright

The Ovens River at Bright is currently at 1.86 metres and rising (Minor Flood
Level 3.0 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause further stream rises
with the possibility of minor flooding overnight Friday into Saturday.

Buckland River
The Buckland River at Harris Lane is currently at 2.07 metres and rising (Minor
Flood Level 2.8 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause further stream
rises with the possibility of minor flooding overnight Friday into Saturday.

Myrtleford
The Ovens River at Eurobin is currently at 3.08 metres and rising (Minor Flood
Level 4.5 metres). Forecast rainfall is expected to cause further stream rises

Buffalo River
The Buffalo River at the D/S Lake Buffalo site is at 2.16 metres and rising

1.2 metres) and rising slowly. The river is expected to peak below the Minor

Euroa
Seven Creeks at Euroa is currently at 1.98 metres and rising (Minor FLood Level
2.5 metres). The creek is expected to peak below Minor Flood Level early
