Series of fronts: October 4-

Very active sequence coming up with a front a day for the next few days. Trough with quite a lot of instability for Friday, sharp front for Saturday, another for Sunday, then a strong wet front for Monday. The link to the tropics isn’t great, but there looks to be sufficient moisture for plenty of showers the odd storm, and rain. Towards the end of the system it gets quite cold so snow on the ranges.

Have been a pretty quite couple of weeks so hopefully this is the start of more activity. The pacific is now borderline La Niña based on relative indices so drivers are getting more compatible.

Btw keep an eye on the skies next couple of nights. Big solar flare yesterday which should give a good aurora display. Night sky is dark atm, so just need to clear air.

1mm here from a very dry & shredded rainband.
Anyone know if there's still thunderstorm potential for central Vic today?
Severe storms in our BOM forecast this morning, and lots of talk about central Vic storms on the various news forecasts last night, but I can't see it?

Spoke too soon! Line of storms has appeared on the radar west of Geelong, although so far too far south for us.

Just a few spits down here. Never was gonna be much in the first front for southern Tasmania. Good to see some rumbles in Victoria.

Today is messy with lots of showers, maybe the odd rumble. Patchy but affecting most parts of the southeast.

Mondays front is looking nice and cold.

Cracking event for east central. Remarkable. Not much at the surface but nice little upper trough made all the difference.

Not Tassies event. Just 1mm here so far.

Today is a bit of an inbetween day, with strong front for tomorrow. Snow levels with that will get into the subalpine in Tas and around the peaks in Victoria.
