ECL followed by a sequence of fronts: June 5-12

Active sequence of weather ahead with an ECL developing the next couple of days, which drifts south allowing a back door front to sneak up for the weekend. This is then followed by a series of strong fronts and a big low. Looks like the first big westerly blow of the year with gales, storm surges, rain and snow on the alps. Unfortunately the link to tropical moisture isn’t great, but should still deliver well for much of Tasmania and Victoria.

Progs flatten mid week out a bit :( particularly so for the mainland where it looks like a bust for SA and much of inland Victoria. Guess we will see how it plays out.

Not looking good for north of the ranges pretty dry 2 weeks coming up :( :( though should get a few mms hopefully.

Great to see WA get good rain after 6 months of heat and dry so very welcome over there im sure.
While NSW coast has way to much with another round of flooding, spread that to SA and Vic lol

South of ranges should see 10-20mm next week more on the coast, east central, yarra rages and NE ranges.

West tassie looking wet as is normal in Wly
Bring on the heat and stroms

Plenty of activity coming up with the weather. At this stage, apart from west facing areas, including east central, rainfall looks a bit underwhelming overall. It will almost certainly be very windy, especially Monday night into Tuesday, so wouldn't be surprised to see a severe weather warning posted from the bureau.

Has been a string of still, cloudy and foggy days here. Could do with some rain, but otherwise very pleasant winter days. It's looking pretty similar today, before it all changes tomorrow.

Just shy of 2mm here overnight. Few coldies around atm so might sneak a bit more.

System still looks strong for Tuesday and Wednesday but really poor link to the tropics. Going to mean the mainland away from the usual wet spots is going to struggle again. Starts very mild but eventually gets cool so probably a bit of snow, but not a lot.

Thinking wind will be a feature, so overall will feel pretty wintery :?

System really getting shreaded today by the ranges in both Vic and TAS. Drying low levels and weak link to the tropics an issue. Just shy of 2mm here so far.

Showery day ahead for most, but not particularly heavy away from the northeast ranges of VIC and western Tasmania.

Looks like the low that forms as the cold air moves into the Tasman Sea might form a very long lived block putting the southeast under a long southerly flow with showers. Could add up in eastern parts of VIC and Tasmania.

Rubbish system here, haven't even made it to single digits. Everything shredded by this disgusting windy filth. :x :cussing:

Wind is just starting to ease off a bit now, but it was howling like crazy last night. It was the worst I have seen here in many years. Unfortunately, it also resulted in a very strong rain shadow, so we’ve had zero rain.

Good to see most areas have had rain. Radar is showing some more showers on the way, which should do best in windward facing areas, such as east central.

Finally, some weather of (minor) note here - 6.5mm to 9am, to add to 2mm a couple of days ago. Wind has been blustery here, but not ridiculous - so far.

Hopefully a few more mm to come.

Manage to scrape 4.4mm here today with a brief, but fairly heavy rain band. Thankfully the wind has now died down. Puts us on 9.6mm for the month, so possibly shaping up as another dry month unless something big changes late in the month.

Cold showery night here with front pushing through. Heavy falls out west which is good to see for the dams after a few pretty dry months. Front pushing through vic with good falls in the usual wet spots.

Snow level dropped a lot, down to about 600m here atm. Mainland resorts looking much better, though marginal so Baw Baw, Buller, Selwyn have all more or less missed out so far. Much better in the higher snowy mountains.

Slow clearance from here, with shower sticking in eastern areas into next week.

Blustery overnight with the front coming through. A further 4.2mm here. Quite a good stream of showers through Melbourne this morning.

Coldest day here today in two year with a max of 9.3C. First proper winter day since 2022. Last year was record mild here, so not really that notable but good to reminded that TAS can still do winter.

Very slowly clearing, now, but showers won’t leave eastern parts of TAS and Victoria until about Tuesday.

Progs showing more weather for next week, and it stays quite cool so chance to build up a decent snow cover. Ironically, NZ on the wrong side of the block is having record warm with their highest June temperature on record yesterday with 25.7C just south of Auckland.
