1.2C this morning..
2 mornings in a row Split system went into defrost mode, so no heat for over 15minutes both times..
makes one alarmed to know they wish to take away Gas supply and appliances..
thank goodness for wood fires...
11.6c @ 1.50pm Not Boiling, freezing......
Lowest temperature in our house was 20.2C today, top temperature was 23.4C. Sons in shorts and bare chested tonight
Our indoor garden is going gang busters with pineapples, bananas, dragon fruit, vanilla and a try hard coconut palm (if we are successful will be the first in Tasmania).
0C at the top of the garden this morning, and around -3C in the horse paddock in the bottom.
We don’t have gas or a wood fire, just a single split system to heat a three bedroom plus two study house. Costs us about $20 a week total for heating. It’s all about the insulation. We’ve gone over the top with this place, but it’s easy to keep a house warm without fires if building standards are sufficient. Unfortunately Oz houses are often not much better than tents
Btw the -0.2C on my AWS is the second coldest for winter. Impressive frost. Ice was about a cm deep on the horse trough. Feeling a bit like El Niño atm.
