I wasn’t expecting rain this evening, quite heavy with gusty winds too.

I’d be hoping for nothing.. open trenches with sewer pipe.
So far so good..

Travelling atm so bit slow on post. Glorious weekend in Hobart, though was a couple of late showers on Sunday which were heavy in parts of the northern burbs.

In Melbourne this week and scored this shot from Docklands. Quite a stunning storm with the setting sun behind. Trying mastodon atm for photos, given the going’s on at Twitter :? Hopefully works for everyone.

Pretty hard to pick activity this week. Chance every day, but not really a focus. Expect mostly northern slopes, but drifting into the south during the arvo. TAS similar. Warm to hot every day. Will give all those complaining about the lack of heat something to get out and enjoy :D

Main event comes later Friday and then into early next week. That second part could bring heavy falls, though models are tending to drift that system further south.

We avoided yesterday's storms. But the coming weekend still has me nervous.

A cell has just developed to the SE of here. Thunder about every 30 seconds from it.

Seems that cell that went behind mt D, has patched a punch… watched it black and noisey.

Crazy rainfall gradients around with this system. Gauge out near Gembrook is showing 120m. Couple nearby showing 86mm and 75mm so looks legitimate. Similar intense gradients with the storm that hit near Mitcham (locally over 40mm) and the other just near Docklands which dropped 40-50mm out towards Flemington but zero in the city and nearby to the east and west.

Here’s a photo of the inner eastern suburbs sorb just on sunset. Stunning vista.

Wars sunny day down in Tas, with places under sea breezes around 20C and those in the protected valleys in the mid to high 20s.

Tomorrow looks like Monday, just a degree or two hotter for most spots.
