Yesterday Was the first time I’d noticed our roof frozen, maybe never been and looked before?
House was comfortable around 13 with no heating overnight, few more window replacements to go.
We are in the process of double glazing. About half done, and rest should be in by late October. Makes a huge difference. Our place is a strawbale house, and only requires a single heater. May well get away without heating when the rest of the windows are done for much of the year.
We have gone aluminium with DG 6.38 laminated both sides.
Noise reduction is huge.
1950,s home. We had steel windows, float glass, weather board, flat roof, no insulation.. one small step above a tent..
We are probably only 1/3 through of what we have to change over, entire north face done, started on the east due to not opening and mould.
Straw bale sounds great. High thermal…. What the roof ?
Aiming for low energy comfort, can’t see we won’t be needing a heater, but 13 seems to be the temp upon waking in this house at present.. pretty happy with that..
