Living in the matrix right now. Deja vu. There is a glitch in the system

Showers once again after a mild night. Radar is peppered with small shower bands coming off the Bay.
Min of 17°C last night/ this morning with a total of 4 mm since 0900 Friday morning.

For all the over cast conditions and showers streaming in we only had another 2 mm from 0900 to 1627. A total of 5 mm in 24 hours. Most days like this we would usually get 10mm plus due to the topography here.

There is weak troughing out back west QLD today. ACC r has a precip' signal which looks quite good in the SW corner of QLD. Possible embedded storms.? Radar watch could be interesting
The trough moves slowly east tomorrow with some weakening.
Monday morning , of say Roma in a line down through NSW may be ok for a brief morning activity.
High pressure extends on to the coast to reduce impact of the trough on the coast.
Everything gone by monday arvo'

Overcast at the tweed this morning. 6mm in the gauge this morning. Good morning for staying in with a cooked sunday breakfast

I believe BoM may have got their forecast a tad wrong today, fortunately this morning I said to my wife not to wash too many clothes, wait until tomorrow. That upper trough has really turned the slight chance of a shower into a very good chance. This morning showers over Bracken Ridge were coming in over the Bay from the east caused by the surface trough and now the upper trough is bringing unstable conditions from the west as it clears.

Yep very moist here too at the tweed colin. No washing drying here either
Some very weak high pressure with no structure over us tomorrow and wednesday. The chance of seeing the sun again increasing.
All the action down south in VIC on wednesday.

It is a double whammy for most parts of Australia especially QLD and NE NSW. The next 3 months climate forecast is above average temperatures for both minimums and maximums. Then the 3 month trend for rain is below average. Unfortunately warm and dry. Not good. For example the combined possible median rainfall over the next 3 months for Brisbane is approx 73 mms and chances of exceeding that total amount is unlikely. Not the news we wanted.

There is hope in the changing spatial temperature pattern in the south pacific.Warm anommin west, cool anom' east
Warm anomalies in the west quadrant means more convection and cloud in the coral sea.
We have already see that with tropical troughing at longitudes 160170s giving QLD coast a bit more moisture potential.
But inland QLD another story. until next monsoon season perhaps..
Lets see what a forecast big dive in the AA,will bring. Hopefully some high amplitude troughing that may make it up into SEQ?
But that is only light passing relief.
IOD not helping much either..

Yes we wait and hope crikey. Minus 1 here this morning, so at least it feels a bit more like winter here.
Thank you for starting a dedicated thread for this wonderful neck of Oz, much appreciated
Local forecast shooting for a nice brisk start of 5C on Thursday (though not as chilly as other places!). Clear skies and sunshine forecast. A sparkling winter day
Mama loves winter

Another morning this morning at minus 1C. A bit of a warm up for the next couple of days before turning colder again. Glorious afternoon today with mild and breezy conditions.
Looks like the upper Gulf Coast of the USA could be in for a major flood situation as Barry forms. Front page of www.tropicaltidbits.com has a great video explaining the setup. The Mississippi River is already at flood stage. This could be a news maker?
Also looks like the southern states of AUS are in for a very active weather pattern with wind, rain and snow as the jet remains quite active over that part of the world. We still remain quite tranquil here under high pressure.

Nice to see you here too crikey. I am just waiting for something to take a picture of, lol. Maybe a cloud or 2 might pass by soon?
I do hope for a repeat of last October. We received 150mm that month! That is the last good month we had. That was also an isolated event as the past few years overall have been nearly bone dry.

Just checking out the jetstream forecast for the mid latitudes. sub tropical jet.
It has been very zonal (straight) for quite some time ,which has seemed to be synonymous with dry boring weather west of the divide.
The sub polar jet weakened down south as well.
Not much of a change in that pattern this week. Maybe the week after..
The weather just glorious on the gold coast this past 3days. Picture perfect.
Very busy with the school holidays and a massive aboriginal gathering at the border today.
Lots of vintage cars around too,
