Another 20mm or so for us down in southern Tasmania. That makes it 50mm the last two days. Hilly spots widely topping 100mm, while the flats typically about half that. Peak falls would be around 150mm.

Great dam filling event, after very little runoff since October last year. Couple of small dams on our proerpty have completely filled :D

Real mixed bag for Victoria, but typical wet spots around Baw Baw and the Dandenongs coming in with big totals. Looks like a heap of rain overnight at Baw Baw and Lake Mt, further north managed to stay in the negatives.

Was on the Spirit last night, and waves were going completely over the front. Quite exciting really :D must have been the odd set north of 10m. Lying in bed had the feeling of weightlessness a few times :?

Slowly clearing for everyone now, though TAS had two more shots with a trough in the easterlies later today and a cold air tomorrow.

Only 0.4mm here. Warming up now with sub-tropical air advected in from the Southeast (yet again). Our max temps this month are nearly 2c above average. Could get close to our hottest July for daily max temp mean.

Only Thursday and Friday might have below average temps in the next week for us. I suspect the SST anomalies to our South are having a significant effect.

20mm here over the past 24 hours. Nowhere near as much as eastern areas, but a decent drop nonetheless. The wind has also been a feature, especially yesterday and overnight, with big gusts and sideways rain at times.

Currently fog and a mild 9c. Should see some showers and/or drizzle at times today.

An even 50mm for us here. Was wild for a few hours last night with horizontal rain and strong gusts. Very wet around here now.

Good to see so many 'proper' falls.

We seem to be in a bit of rain hole even locally, with plenty of nearby sites recording 20-35mm to 9am, but just 16mm here to add to 4mm yesterday. Sort of reading that makes me doubt my Nylex :?

Not doubting you, but average Max Bendigo temp for July is 12.7, and the average so far in 2023 is 13.7. What am i missing? Or are referring to your own local specific area?Microclimates can be an interesting thing

Got a southeasterly stream set up over Tasmania this evening with heavy showers. Rounding out the event nicely. Had another 9mm so far, so about 60mm for the event now. Very mild moist air, but cools sharply tomorrow with snow levels dropping to about 800m here.

Btw I had missed a few records yesterday on northern Tasmania thanks to foehn winds and a warm airmass.
Devonport 17.6c, 0.4c above 2020 record.
Low Head 16.1c, 0.2c above 2001 record.
Wynyard today reached 17.7C which would have been a record of it wasn’t for a record 17.9C last week.

Ironically cold much further north with a bit of snow as far north as Guyra.

Event keeps giving four TAS. Just shy of 20mm in the gauge for the past 24 hours, making over 70mm for the event, and over 100mm since it all started Tuesday last week. Thats $600 of free water in the tanks :D

Peak falls approaching 300mm around the top of Kunanyi. Wettest parts of Hobart around 150mm. Really needed this one.

Starting to clear now and colder air is moving in. Back to more classical westerly weather from Friday.

Our pre-1990 July Mean Max was 12.0c.

This morning was 4c min, but today looks like it'll get to around 15c. Again, very hot for mid-July.

Warm at the start of next week too. Where is winter?

For the record, June 2024 was typical of winter, even cooler than long term average. August could be very interesting given what appears to be some significant disturbances appearing in the stratosphere above Antarctica atm. Who knows?

Few showers around here the last 24 hours, but not much in the gauges. Has turned quite icy. Saw some sleet yesterday at just 300m, and snow was hanging low in the clouds, would guess falling to about 600 to 700m. Had a chilly max of just 9.3C at our place.

New systems already inbound. Very vigorous series of fronts in a broad westerly air stream.

...and it just doesn't stop! Rain on 10 of the last 11 days here, pouring again this morning, we've hit 100mm for the month already.
