It just scraped us here. Had some hail but nothing like that.

We did have a few good thumping showers this afternoon and evening but they’ve been brief, so only 2.4mm here in total. It’s cold though - currently only 3.7c. Any further showers could well be sleety, and maybe some snow up at Mount Macedon?

Unfortunately quite a bit of frost in the Wimmera overnight. That could impact grain crops.

3mm here, most of which fell in the form of ice one way or another :).

Neighbours reported snow flurries (their words, so sounds convincing); I only saw hail and sleet, but I wasn't home all day.

Probably the best snowfall on the mountain down here all year. About 25cm on the top with drifts to about twice that in spots. System was cold and dry so very light snow, would be powder if we had lifts 🤣

Here’s a few shots from climbing up there today. Good workout walking in snow for about 12km and about 700m of vertical all up. Was snowing heavily at times. Is magic walking in blizzards when you have the gear. Didn’t see a single other party across the top because of the weather 🤗 (though later they snow ploughed the road and up went the masses).

Light frost here this morning. Looks like a warm sunny day to come before a few showers overnight. A bit of wind with that. Not much in it for VIC.

Progs looking pretty dull. Light onshore flow with the odd weak front. Maybe a bit more active on Tuesday. Nothing extreme for the next seven to ten days on the current update.

Front last night packed a lot more punch than expected :) A quick 8mm with gusty winds. Was a few rumbles around southern Tas, though I didn’t hear anything over the sound of the rain. Tops up a very good month down here.

Progs looking pretty dull for the next seven to ten days. Not sure what the next thread should be :? Couple of weak fronts then getting warmer.

Gusty front for today. Looks mainly a coastal VIC and western/northern Tas system. Possible rumbles as the best of it comes through mid arvo. Not a lot in it, but keeps things ticking over. The very far southeast has been remarkably lucky this month with rain and cooler temps as the rest of Oz sees heat and dry.

So Melbourne for Oct will have an average of about 19.1 and Sep 20.1

Have we ever before had Sep a full degree warmer than Oct?

It also happened back in 2013. Pretty rare though.

A blustery day in Tas yesterday with the odd shower.

Looking a progs noting really showing for a thread. Guess cool then becoming warmer. Nice trough on the east coast, but looks like mostly missing us.

October 2023 came in slightly below average temperature wise for Bendigo. And rainfall slightly above average at 56mm - Contrary to basically every climate forecast model.

The early-October downpour did wonders for the crops in Victoria, and it'll be another bumper harvest this year. There was some frost damage in the Wimmera though.

Getting quite dry here again, but not unusual now that we're in November. I still reckon Summer will be hot.
