Another strong front showing up for late this week with a front moving through late on Friday. A bit moisture starved but should still see some thunderies ahead. Cold and showers Saturday with some snow in the alps. Slowly clearing on Sunday. Summer then hits a couple of days later
Warm 21C here, and max into the 30s in the northwest. Tomorrow looks similar, perhaps even a touch warmer.
Trough moves in late tomorrow with scattered showers and storms, becoming more widespread in the south on Saturday. Mid level instability is quite good, though bit of high level crap may limit things.
Interesting day ahead. Upper trough is standing up with a surface trough deepening over western Vic. North east winds will bring in moisture through the day. Showers and storms developing, spreading into a rainband overnight.
Not expecting this to be too big in terms of thunder, but is one of those events that could surprise. EC has patchy heavy falls so very convective and will be hit miss.
hello clouds pulling over that sun has been clear today a long time and there is a nice gap between the scattered convection for more development. looks like rain for today, approaching evening and perhaps before. thunder not out of the question. more slow moving i would think. maybe some downpours and localised winds...
Nothing showing yet
However that Brisbane radar is showing some serious storms
Couple of hooks...dangerous
I think I will have to move there permanently

There was a confirmed tornado there at Brisbane airport earlier today. Video footage online
Frustrating wait for the action out here in the east. Warm humid day but never really looked the goods until right on sunset. Now waiting to see the state of the band as it comes across in the early hours.
That storm near Brisbane Ap was insane. Locally 100mm in an hour and at least one large tornado and possible a smaller second one. Hearing it was on the lower end of intensity, but still impressive. Fortunately it travelled through the flat “wastelands” near the docks and airport so not much out there. Very fortunate.
That would make for something like ten tornadoes in the past two weeks across eastern Australia. Remarkable. Feels like an unusually large number
A few thumping showers during the night with lighter rain in between. Thick fog now with drizzle. Just on 12mm so far. Great system for west central and parts of north central.
Didn’t hear any thunder but slept pretty soundly so good chance I slept through it. We did get a very heavy burst about midnight with a peak rainfall rate of 129mm/hr so would be surprised if that didn’t have the odd spark but the rain was so heavy and fog so thick couldn’t hear or see anything
There upper low is actually back near Mt Gambier and will be over Melbourne early arvo. There a chance of the odd rumble again mid arvo when that pushes through. Not widespread but progs showing some instability.
