Scratching around for a thread with a bit of a dull (nice ) week ahead. Nice weather for Saturday than a solid though moisture starved front for Sunday. Possibility that eastern parts of VIC and northern TAS might see a rumble.
Btw some impressive inversions round this morning. DP of -25 at Kunanyi and -14 at Hotham. Some local frosts with the dry air aloft.
Progs starting to have a mid spring feel beyond this weekend. Possibly something brewing about Friday of next week.

Hmmm, maybe 3mm tomorrow, similar in a week. Not a lot.
Looks like you did ok. Not a drought breaker but freshen things up a bit.
Decent rain band though fairly dry low levels ahead of which means pretty strong rainshadows. Be interesting to see if this helps with the crops out west where it’s been almost rainless for the month.
A welcome 8mm here; not enough to get us to average for September, but anything is a bonus this year!
Interestingly, rainfall frequency this month has been good - we've had 19 rain days, and never more than two days without rain. It's just the totals that have been lacking.

They always do ok, despite the complaints on here. Nothing more or less than the usual

Oct next week, how the f is it Oct already just crazy.
I know! Sneaks up...
Meanwhile back on the weather front, finished September on 64mm vs 79mm average (27 years). Running about 190mm below average ytd, despite consistent climate outlooks to the contrary.
Would be nice to get some catch-up rain late like we did last year, but my confidence in any forecasts more than a week out is shot, so who knows? Looks like something useful late this week... New thread?
Just 0.6mm here on the weekend - we were in a very strong but not unexpected rain shadow with this set up.
We finish the month on around 88mm. Counting ourselves lucky given the broader pattern. Really hoping things improve throughout the southeast as spring rolls on. I find it can be tricky with a developing La Niña - it can either deliver well or just focus rain further up the east coast.
Just 0.2mm here and about a months worth of wind. Still, we came in just below record high rainfall for the July to September so an awesome turn around and now just a bit above average.
Rainfall deciles show why farmers are struggling. Basically all of western Victoria and southern South Australia running near to lowest or lowest on record on six to nine month time scales. Those areas are similar or worse than the comparable periods in 1982, 1994, 2002, 2006, 2008 which are many of the big recent drought years. http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/maps/rain ... =09&day=30
Progs a bit dull now for a few days. Perhaps a trough with some action for the weekend.
