Up to about 20mm of rain (including 2mm to 9am). Managed to miss the worst of the wind... so far.

Stacks of lightning/ thunder here this arvo - poor dogs don't like thunder and are having a breakdown!

Just took my dog outside for toilet time before bed & she's clearly not impressed. Lots of lightning & thunder out there at present with round 2 about to hit.

Been S , then SW , then W of the core of this storm and quite close. Have a verandah on east side of house and its been an epic light ,sound and wind show for the last 40 minutes or so. Fantastic stuff. 3rd storm for the day wins!

Nice! Good view from here as this cluster moves towards thew high country.

Nothing too much here in round one other than some nice rumbles and a few forks.

Lots of flash bands out the window. Brief heavy rain but very fast moving. Winds so far are unremarkable, and have come from every direction multiple times today. Happy not to have much wind.

EDIT> Just went red on radar. Peak rainfall rate of 260mm/hr with gutters pouring over :o 9mm in the gauge now and still going. Bit of hail to about 5 cent size.

Extreme rain rate there HB!

Having a bit of a crawler fest here - in every direction. Stunning booming circling in Dolby surround, heavy rain with it.

That was a really nice light show, some of those crawlers were fantastic and went on for some seconds!

Fairly decent rain but nothing flooding and thankfully no hail!

Thats the kind of storm you can watch and enjoy, and not have to worry that its going to strike close as it seemed to be all in the clouds :D

Amazing show - loads of lightning and a couple of overhead booms. Up to 9.4mm. Unfortunately, the wind has picked up strongly here in the last hour or so following the band of rain/storms, gusting between 50 and 60km/h. Pressure is on 996 hPa.

Very Windy - relocation of sleeping, not under gum trees.
Tipping it’s a lack of sleep night.
Yes was a great light show.

I'm not getting much sleep with the Bass Strait cyclone winding things up. 90km/h+ wind gusts reported in Western Vic and the Mallee.

Pressure down to 987 HPa at Cape Otway...

Seems to be more wind here than the past major events..
power just holding in, some odd noises with the power flickers.
Along with some big thuds in the neighbouring bush land

Edit. Wind speed 102
Gusts. 143. Mount William.

14mm in the gauge. Wind is just feral. Shocking. House shaking stuff. We are sheltered in northwest winds but the trees are still roaring. The low is slipping south so winds should start easing, but still a couple of shocking hours ahead. Haven’t spotted any record gusts yet, but not a long. So far no trees down here. Few small branches. Hoping with all fingers crossed I’d don’t have chainsawing a repairs after this :?

Looking at the radar the low is just east of King Island and like a TC with a tight spiral core on the radar :o

Can’t imagine what the sea must be like near the surf coast and Bay Heads atm :o Gust will be around 150km/hr over the water atm.

Going to be damage everywhere this morning. Had to remove a branch off the main road while walking the dog.

Be careful if your driving out there. Hope this garbage eases soon.

My weather station clocked an 80km gust at 5:30 this morning, quite a lot of damage on the Avenue of honour with some 100 year old elm trees snapped off at the base 😢

I just recorded my highest ever wind gust on my Davis. 92km/h 😲.

That's even higher than those winds a few months ago.

Whenever i record wind gusts on the Davis, it is almost guaranteed the real gust was around 20% higher going by past experience and cross checking with the Kestrel.

There will be damage today
