Kilmor Gap station obviously broken. Showing -3.5 degrees currently. No way that's true. It's record is -1.9 and that wouldn't even occur on a night like tonight. Been showing a very low temp the whole day.

Yep, gone on the blink. Perhaps lightning or something.

Chilly here but actually a bit milder than I expected. Currently 1.6C. Tis cold enough for snow but showers are being shredded by the Otway  Still about six hours before the window closes so could still get some.

Storing warm air advection kicks in this arvo with showers becoming more widespread.

Epic snowfalls in the alps. Looks like 50-100cm for the event. Sad that they are basically closed :(

Just up the hill from here - there was no close lightning. I would have seen it / heard thunder. Currently 2 / 1 here.

Snowing again now, only the lightest of covers. A real shame because it has been at or below zero since midnight.
-0.7C now.
I've had better snowfalls that have come out of no where.
* getting heavier now, maybe I complain too soon. Haha.

What cold outbreak?

It's been mostly fine yesterday AND this morning, apart from an hour of crappy showers last night.

By the time that precipitation makes it this way later with that warm front, the so-calles cold outbreak will be over.

It gets a 1 out of 10 from me, as it doesn't get more calm than this

A photo from the Otways this morning. Damn, which we could move that range of hills and put them behind the Dandenongs ;)

Dipped to 1.0C here in the end with a gusty windy and cloudy skies, so freezing level down to about 700m. Cold enough for snow to 400m give or take with precip. Waste of cold air :?

Pretty good cold outbreak actually, it hasn't been over 4C here since Wednesday arvo. Still below zero at 10am and it has been below zero since 2am and we have had snow on the ground since 7pm yesterday
That is pretty good for my place. We wouldnt often stay below zero til 10am even on the frostiest of mornings
We missed out on getting a lot of snow but then again we missed the strong wind as well which is a fair trade off in my opinion.

A dusting of snow on the ground here in the wee hours, but lining up moisture and cold didn't really come off: we had 8.5mm of precipitation, but probably only 0.5mm of that fell when it was cold enough to settle! So far this year, good snow seems to either be shooting north or skirting the coast, and we're stuck in the middle.

Back up to 2C with a stiff wind, brrrr!

I know what you mean Macedonian - a good snow forecast is almost a kiss of death for us, the better falls often surprise.

(By the way, very sad that Snowy Hydro are being so slack with their snow measurements this year. The only significant snow record for Australia (60 plus years) is being trashed. Bloody shame when we need a reliable historical record more than ever.)

Coldest and wettest period of the winter here. Haven't hit double figure temps for two weeks, 65mm fell since this current lockdown started (MTD 85mm)
Alps around us are covered in deep, dry snow. Bitterly cold 5c presently.

Snow on surrounding mountains of East Warburton. Does not look that low, but it's something. This mountain is 1221m asl

Hard to see, but a little patch of a dusting on the mountains to the right.

And a little bit on the mountain to the left (East side of Mount Victoria)

Also snow on the mountains a bit further up the ranges, hard to see on this one even if you zoom in, as the sun was north above the phone. To give an idea though that mountain is actually 1083m asl, if you zoom in enough, you will see a streak of snow near the center it's not clear though.

Wintery one here today with a max of just 5.1C. Lots of showers including a couple with graupel but failed to register as they stopped as soon as they started. Hoping tonight delivers a bit as we could well fall short of the monthly average the way we are tracking.

Looks like Tassie did quite well today with snow falling in the elevated suburbs of Hobart and lots of picks on social media of snow down to 200-400m. Good to see a bit of a change from the very dry and quite mild winter they’ve been having,

1mm in the gauge in Ferny Creek. Temperatures have been rising and now on 7C so missed out on an impressive low max. That band fizzed and stayed south. Looks like 50mm plus around Walkerville, with spot falls near 100mm for the event down there :o

Pretty mild week ahead. Nwly winds dominate. Embedded fronts with showers and possibly a rumble. It’s very warm in northern Australia atm (we saw the second and third highest July Max’s on record last weeks for whole of Oz) so if winds go northerly can tap some pretty mild air. Guess new thread time.

Hobart yaaaah 10mm rain and snow this morning around 400 metres asl . Very nice and showers forecast tonight and snow to 900 .
Warming up as high as 16 later in week but rain is going with it ?
Wattle is a slightly early flowering season but not unexpected.
Thanks for putting up with my dry spell reports.

A mere 1.5mm here, making 67.5mm mtd - about 11mm shy of our July average, so tracking okay. The steady nature of this month's rain has been a blessing, given how saturated things are.

Temp is a downright balmy 7.5C :). It's amazing how that can feel mild after the last week.

Really have missed out on rain here in B.Marsh, only 15mm MTD… just lots of wind!!
Off topic, SW WA have had a really wet July this year!! My parents in Perth have had 230mm to yesterday and
some spots in the Perth hills are well over 300mm…
