yeah I see what you mean there Greg, they have a similar shape and size those wallclouds. I dare say the US wallcloud was rotating stronger and maintained that phase longer and it produced a tornado. Alas, ours didnt but technically our storm also hadnt matured to its peak yet either as you can see in my later pics of the huge meso wrap-around which almost produces a tornado itself in the absence of a wallcloud. Gee that was a cool storm. Thanks for sharing the video for comparison.

Great shots mate! Once again making my urge to wanna go over there even stronger!

I think #3, #8, #10 & #12 are my favs of that lot. #3 with the low sun behind it is a real beauty!

Are you heading over again next year?

Thought you'd like them Greg :) actually I said to John I was going to post some more and wondered if I'd get another 'holy crap' from you! haha

I am planning to go back next year. I certainly have some unfinished business with tornado alley ;)

Haha, no holy crap this time. You've done well tho, don't worry about that! How long was the shutter open on that last one?

Do you guys meet up with other chasers over there? I really wanna go, but I don't know anyone over there and I don't fancy spending a few grand on a tour.

Hey Meso, I usually go with a small organised group mainly from chasers I know from NSW although the team members vary most years and has included Slovenians and Kiwis. This year I chased with John Allen and guys from NSW. Next year I hope to go but no plans yet. I can understand the reluctance to spend the big dollars on the US tours.

Thanks alot Greg! I think my job is done :) Thats precisely how I want my images to make people feel.

Later on the 3rd Dec I intercepted storms that were interacting on an outflow boundary near Nathalia and the results were very impressive on sunset and after dark!

Here are my pics from Sun 5th Dec including a beautiful rotating isolated storm near Lake Bolac:

First few pics including the atomic bomb updraft were taken along the Calder approaching Malmsbury

This was my first glimpse of the Lake Bolac storm taken looking west from north of Skipton. Note the inflow feeders and anvil with mammatus!

As I drove staight at the storm I though the storm had classic supercell characteristics but as I got closer the updraft base began to emerge more, tighten and clearly rotate and appeared more LP. Note the curvature and the attempts at organising funnels.

In true LP style the updraft evaporated literally into thin air in 5mins (east of Hamilton) leaving behind a wall of white precip and some small hail I imagine. I went a bit further west to intercept a line of storms west of Hamilton where I saw some interesting features. Note the apparent scud inflow into the 'funnel' and also the faint white low level scud being drawn up from near ground.

Finished the chase with a barrage of lightning in daylight as the storms moved away and managed to catch one!
