Just a few spits down here. Never was gonna be much in the first front for southern Tasmania. Good to see some rumbles in Victoria.
Today is messy with lots of showers, maybe the odd rumble. Patchy but affecting most parts of the southeast.
Mondays front is looking nice and cold.

Very active sequence coming up with a front a day for the next few days. Trough with quite a lot of instability for Friday, sharp front for Saturday, another for Sunday, then a strong wet front for Monday. The link to the tropics isn’t great, but there looks to be sufficient moisture for plenty of s ...

Just 0.2mm here and about a months worth of wind. Still, we came in just below record high rainfall for the July to September so an awesome turn around and now just a bit above average. Rainfall deciles show why farmers are struggling. Basically all of western Victoria and southern South Australia ...

Hmmm, maybe 3mm tomorrow, similar in a week. Not a lot. Looks like you did ok. Not a drought breaker but freshen things up a bit. Decent rain band though fairly dry low levels ahead of which means pretty strong rainshadows. Be interesting to see if this helps with the crops out west where it’s been ...

Scratching around for a thread with a bit of a dull (nice :D ) week ahead. Nice weather for Saturday than a solid though moisture starved front for Sunday. Possibility that eastern parts of VIC and northern TAS might see a rumble. Btw some impressive inversions round this morning. DP of -25 at ...

Squeezed out 2mm, suddenly the taps turned off at the same time the pacific has lurched towards La Niña (though global warming is screwing up the indices). Guess eastern parts further north are doing better.
Progs look pretty un exciting for the week ahead. Mild to warm nearly dry.

Gee that’s a shame about northern Victoria. Southern vic did ok. Hearing in some areas it’s the best fall in a couple of months, even though it was only 10mm give or take for most. Great little system for NSW ranges which were starting to dry out. Dud for most of TAS as expected. Cold dry front with ...

Blowing like crazy all day down here. Quite a bit of minor damage. Squeezed out a couple showers but nothing to add to the score. Dusting of snow on the mountain.
Next system looks ok for Victoria but progs are jumpy. A miss for most of Tasmania.

2mm yesterday. While the airport aws has had 14mm MTD, we're on 6mm. Appallingly dry atm. The front next week looks like another nothing system. I have suspicions it'll end up being our driest ever September. That’s not good. This dry is really creeping on the mainland. If you are further south, ...

Cracking little front, better for Victoria. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear reports of small hail and thunder. Tassie it’s a bit more shreaded by the ranges. More snow on the mountains. Snow depths are quite healthy around Tassie now

The westerlies have failed again for the mainland croppers who rely on westerlies. Thats a pattern that has been getting more and more common since the 1970s. The pressure over southern Australia has risen by nearly 3hPa in the critical April to July window, which translated into 5-10% per hPa ...

Unfortunately the solar storm peaked on Tuesday during the day then while it was ok at night the cloud rolled in. Still, this solar maximum has another six to twelve months to run. Was talking to one of Europes leading climate scientists who thinks that at least some of the extremes atm ...

Plenty of hail and graupel for us on the weekend but no snow. Saw some photos around the 150m mark near Hobart which looked like snowflakes, so almost but perhaps not quite a sea level event. Been plenty of showers but ranges have been really shredding them. Just 6mm at our place for the last 72 ...

Few showers down here this morning. Heavy near the mountain but just dribbles on the flats. Waiting for tomorrow’s front which is exceptionally cold. Best shot of cold air here for a couple of years. Cold enough for sea level snow. Unfortunately I’m away for the weekend so will miss it, so will nee ...

Wow those photos are crazy. Good to see the rain, though. Only a few light showers down here, with the rainband fading a bit. Clearer tomorrow then next front for Friday. The air on Saturday is seriously cold, probably best shot of cold air for at least three years. Sea level snow likely in parts of ...

Decent outbreak of storms for central and north central Victoria today. Currently looks to be fire around 1-2pm on the front. Not particularly severe looking at diagnostics but first fall for some areas for a while. Looks like a miss for the northwest and very near coastal strip. Down here in Tas a ...

Cracking front for Sunday. Heavy rain in a couple of spells, small hail and cracking squalls. Just on 8mm. We’ve already cracked out monthly average so that’s three in a row :D The garden is looking a treat, and dams and tanks full. More snow on the mountain. Next front coming through on Wednesday wi ...
