Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Yep, spotted that Gordon. Change in the pattern showing up for next week. Progs also toying with a stronger front saturday night. Been on and off around this one... Couple of runs had up to 20mm.

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Reached a top of 27.2c here in Wyndham Vale.
18C for us. Got a tiny bid of drizzle mid morning, but nothing to add to the total.

Looks like a week of not much for us now with only weak fronts.

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

How boring is the weather at the moment. Mild and cloudy with just the odd light shower or drizzle every now and then. You need to move up the hill Dane! Love this autumnal weather - cloud drifting through the trees and everything turned lush green up here. Bit soggy for working - took to about noo...

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Drizzle and fog all night here with (about) 8mm in the gauge since 9am. Still coming down (shame as I want a nice day to get some work done!). Looks like clearing soon if EC is to be believed, then returning tonight but lighter. BTW here's the AWS trace from yesterday for up here. Shows a pretty cla...

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Cool drizzly day up here with fog just to add to the effects :P 3.2mm of rain, and a max of 13.8C. Gone back into showers after a clearance earlier. Really humid for a cool day with DPs around 13C. Pretty classic warm front weather, which is odd for March. Like the look of EC... Big cold outbreak la...

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Wierd band of heavy drizzle to the south of the Bay ATM moving north. This looks warm frontal, and should push into the burbs next few hours. Upper temps and humidity is rising. Was starting to spit in the Dandenong when I left hope. Not a lot in it. Back to more settled weather later next week with...

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Another 3mm here today, so 6mm or there abouts. Bit more than the models were expecting so can't complain. Max (after 9am) of just 13C - heaters on - two weeks ago we needed the cooler with all that heat and humidity :P BTW that gust at Wilson Prom of 156km/hr today seems to be a new March record. W...

Re: Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

Yes, the two cloudbands from the two different airmasses have definitely linked on the satellite image now, so we await to see if it can get a boost like Saturday's event did, though a bit less wind would be desirable. Not to be. The phasing was wrong :( One blowey night in the hill - ended up gett...

Cooler with some showers: Mar 4 to Mar 10

A spell of cooler SW to W weather coming up with some showers, mainly about coastal parts. EC and GFS have showers moving inland a bit near fronts on Thur/Fri and Mon. Quite cold air - the 850Ts drop to near 0C on Thur, and tend to stay in single digits for most of the week. Certainly looks autumnal...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

Sorry to hear about the surge hillybilly. We got power back about 4am Ok in the end. Turns out our voltage was running around 170 volts here even though we didn't black out. Anything with an engine or heating element was struggling. Back up to 240 volts now. Wierd... Guess a transformer issue. Nice...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

Very welcome ~30mm of rain here. Will wait to light to check the manual, with the AWS showing about 29mm. Good solid rain rate for about four hours, with a few heavier bursts. Best fall in two weeks and one day :P Still no power in Ferny Creek but heavy rain like Geoff Our power stayed up (though lo...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

Crazy wind. Don't think I've seen it like that up here. Thankfully, just for a few minutes. No trees down here, by there will be a fair number of branches. Lots of rumbles, but hardly any rain with the storms. Odd... Radar not consistent with what's on the ground :? Rainband now lining us up for a f...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

On the way to the Avalon Airshow. It had been raining the whole way from leaving Melbourne. Rather steady rain also. Judging by radar, looks by the time we reach Avalon, it will have cleared that area (well I'm hoping it would have). One of those elevated warm frontal features with the onset of the...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

Facebook seems to be saying the rumbles and sounds mentioned over s larger area may have been airshow at Avalon. That migt make some sense. Sat on the couch hearing low rumblers wondering if the ground was about to shake. Back to the weather, a hot one, but cloud and a bit of humidity capping thing...

Re: Hot Start then Much Cooler Spell Feb. 28.....

Yep... looking hot then a fairly dramatic front. Bit of wind with the front too... so not a good day to stand under those gums. Change looks reasonably promising for rain with EC and GFS both showing 5-10mm pretty widespread (e.g., has about 12mm up here in Ferny Creek). It does look like a decent c...

Re: Warm to hot and unstable: Feb 6 onwards

2mm more overnight so ended on 6mm. Local AWS - just 2km away got 9mm so a bit unlucky at our place. I think for the thread that we've had ~65mm and 5 thunder days. Not a bad effort. New thread time - Saturday's system is starting to look a bit better with EC showing falls up to 10mm now for Melbour...

Re: Warm to hot and unstable: Feb 6 onwards

4mm up here today. Pretty happy with that.. Want expecting much... EC and ACCESS both had less than 1mm and even the always optimistic GFS only had 5mm :P settles the dust added a thousand litres to the water tanks, and pushes our MTD to a reasonable 60mm (average is just past 70mm). Thick fog up he...

Re: Warm to hot and unstable: Feb 6 onwards

1.4mm back home. First band died on our door step, then a little cell dived south of us, then split the main band with bits passing north and south :( Maybe the next bit will dive south. Here's a photo as it came through the city - great visually - but mainly light/moderate rain. https://fbcdn-sphot...

Re: Warm to hot and unstable: Feb 6 onwards

Uncomfortable night up here... 23C for a minimum. Now waiting on the front.... Had enough of summer now. Couple of showery bands... First dropping a couple of mm's in spots. Interesting storms already firing out west with a big cell to the west of the Otways. Not sure what to expect here... Could be...

Re: Warm to hot and unstable: Feb 6 onwards

Got gusty cooler southeasterly winds here which I suspect is outflow from the storms that were to our east. These easterlies are then converging with the weak sw'ly change which is feeding the storms to the southwest. The convergence is really firing up... Interesting to watch how far east the SWly ...
