Another mild day with 18C. Had patchy light rain this arvo. Hoping to pick up a decent fall overnight, though progs are jumpy. Currently sat on about half the august average, so been pretty dry. Looks like Hobart will score its second warmest maxs on record for August behind 1982, and warmest winter...

Few showers overnight and now a mild almost warm day ahead with showers increasing. Uppers are really warm. Already 7C at Mt Buller just past 9am. Far too warm for winter 🫣 Bit slow on the pickup but Eyre scored a 35.4C on Sunday which is a new southern Australia record (south coast). Probably lucky...

A cool showery system to end winter with a slow moving trough eventually cutting off into a low in the Tasman Sea. The system is not particularly cold, so rain in the alps to start, but will cool towards the end of the week. Totals look ok in the usual wet spots, while most should get some. It’s bee...

17C on both Saturday and Sunday. After our warmest July on record, feels like we are determined to have a run at the warmest August. Still waiting to get a properly cold day all year, with nothing below 10C so far. Another week of mostly mild weather, more typically of later September of October. Ne...

Bust down here in southern TAS 😩Just a trace the last 24 hours. Now under strong warm air advection so drizzle showers for west facing areas. Snow lines are rising pretty strongly so suspect a wash out in the alps. Northern areas might escape the worst of it, but Lake Mt, Baw Baw and Donna will like...

Solid falls for much of VIC, with the Wimmera doing particularly well. Big falls for western Tas and the hills in northern Tas. Miss for southeast TAS ☹️ Band spreading into the alps now and will bring some much needed snow. Not a particularly cold system, but still chilly enough for snow across all...

System looks solid for VIC. There’s quite a good upper trough which should thicken up widespread showers, perhaps tending towards rain later today into tomorrow. Very wet for western Tasmania. Not so for eastern areas. Frustrating system in some ways as it almost cuts off into a low, but not quite. ...

-1C this morning. Nice and crunchy out. Horse paddock looks like a ski resort
That’s the coldest for the year, though last year we saw -1.8C in August so not the coldest in very long. Nice day ahead.

Nice winter spell coming up with a series of fronts. First one for Thursday, second around Friday, sneaky warm front for Saturday, and another cold front for Sunday. Will be more impressive in southern areas. Totals should be ok in coastal and west facing areas. Might save the ski season for a few w...

Good to see some solid showers round Vic on Saturday. Bit of a creeping dry happening atm, as the El Niño establishes, so any rain is good rain. Bit patchier down in Tas, but with just shy of 2mm for the day at our place in Howden and about 5mm for the event. Cool few days then some westerly gales. ...

Was a non event in southern TAS yesterday, but picking up a clipper front tonight with a few heavy showers. Do need it. Next highs ridging in but will push some fairly cool air over us the next 72 hours. Suspect some heavy showers, though slow moving and hit miss. Some snow in the alps. Progs have f...
