Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Looked good yesterday arvo down here, but mainly rode the range. Millaa picking up a nice total.

Much cooler with this southerly change, thank goodness. Hope we get some rain soon, watering the lawn in mid February up here just seems insane.

It’s coals fault!😜😬

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

February last year I recorded 735mm, it is hard to imagine a third of the way through this February, that I will get to even half that total. At a touch over 50mm and looking at some of the models it seems it would require a late month low to even go close to half of last years total for the month. ...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Been away for a couple of days. Found 88mm in the gauge.

Rained all night and still raining lightly this morning. I think the Sth Mission alert is cactus as it has been showing 4mm since yesterday lunch time.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Yes Scott, nice conditions today to be on the water.

Paddled around Tam O’Shanter this morning. No fishing, but do sometimes pack a rod. Plenty of turtles.

Nice 20mm late this arvo to cool things down. Might see some more later tonight.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

96mm overnight. Some good falls around the place.

I imagine Scott went out the reef fishing, conditions are great. Might have got a wet backside though.

Well I’m off for a paddle.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

50mm yesterday morning and another 10mm this morning. The yard loving it.

Plenty of storms just off the coast but nothing steering them at the moment. Very muggy and still.

Dormant wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2020 11:55 am Well, slippery you only wanted to save the reef from suntan lotion, right?
Now there’s a point Dormant!

This body would require a fair bit of lotion too!

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Very oppressive down here as well. I had to bring the poor old dog in last night to share the aircon, which we only tend to use under extreme conditions. Bugger all breeze, so even a cleverly designed home suffers in these conditions. Looks like we have a few days of it yet, I even turned down a tri...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Nice drop overnight of 20mm. Keep the grass green. Had 2860mm for the year. Started strong, ended miserably. Down almost 500mm on the previous year. Love to see a big widespread system come through down south. Poor buggers. Nature will do what nature will do. We know that all too well up here. Hope ...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Yeah Scott, been very dry. Like the look for the coming week though, hope it holds up. You could always just use the ramp at Camoo. Bit closer for the drive. I think Clump is open for the Chrissy break as well. Have you got skids or rollers on the trailer? If you have skids you could just back down ...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Boy it has been dry at the beach. Two years ago I had only just moved there and between October to December we had over 500mm. Last year, mainly thanks to a big December, we had over 800mm. This year I have a tick over 60mm. Talking to some old farmers, they can’t recall a dryer fourth quarter. As o...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

What fantastic weather!

Finally got a couple of days of fishing in. Me and a million others😂

The place is over run with tourists, understandable given it is such a beautiful spot. Cafes and resteraunts choca block. Mission is buzzing!

Back to work tomorrow, so I better the most of today.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Big dogs have big....nvm. At least up here you guys can fish without getting frozen. Think how 'bracing' it must be in Tassie. Yes Dormant, the fishing is far superior, that is why we are flooded with Southeners every year I guess. I have experienced the trout, snow, frost bite phenomena, and altho...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Scott Labs are farters, snorers, burpers, but great dogs.

Six weeks the weather should be good to get out wide. Isn’t looking great for the immediate future. I might sneak around The Big Island this weekend. Flick some plastic.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

If you want a dog to keep you warm, I suggest a Lab, just don’t paint your toes with peanut butter, chances are you will lose your toes. :o Enjoying the cooler weather, although the fishing has been crap! Who needs green zones? Mother Nature imposing her own exclusion zones! Anyway good to see every...
