Undoubtably another hot day, but why doesn't the heatwave warning show it ?

Today a bushfire smoke plume appeared on Bairnsdale weather radar approx 90km's long and not clearing until approx north of Lakes Entrance.
The bushfire started about 13km NNW of Briagolong this morning and Vic Emergency issued an Immediate Evacuation of the small township which is still posted by ...

Talk about dry - over last three months this end of Vic has been lacking decent rain, eg Totals SALE/55MM, BAIRNSDALE 62MM & ORBOST 42MM.
Surprisingly, as I speak it's pelting down on the tin roof and sounds great, 1MM for to 0900 and be lucky to get 5MM today.
Glad I don't have livestock these days ...

34mm in Sale for the last few days, 1mm since 0900 yesterday(Sun 13/10) despite the BUM forecast of
HEAVY rain all day.
Hearing FIZZER being mentioned, be pretty right about the forecast.

2mm in Gauge overnight, warm morning already almost no breeze in SALE.
Expected some better rain going on the BOM forecast for us, how often do you see 'HEAVY" in

About 40km N of Sale, Mt Moornapa has had 25mm+ in about an hour from a thundery cell, water would be rolling down the hillsides madly from that.
In the mean time no wind and clear sky in Sale, next Sunday though....10 - 20mm @ 95% from BOM.

Seems to be nicely located to get good moisture flowing over it every time and from any direction.
