Re: Stretch of troughs with showers: October 25 to November

Little action over the weekend in Northern Tassie. 2.4 mm here at Grindelwald but only 0.2 mm in Launceston. It brings Launceston's rain since October 1st to 0.8 mm. A few reasonable falls around Burnie and in the North East. We may miss this next event altogether, depends on the positioning of the ...

Re: Stretch of troughs with showers: October 25 to November

Hi from Northern Tassie. Its raining here but by the look of the radar it won't last long. By the way as I flagged a few days ago, Launceston smashed its previous driest October with only 0.6 mm (previous record 9.9 mm). By the look of the models we will miss out on Wednesday's event too sitting rig...

Re: Stretch of troughs with showers: October 25 to November

A lot of Australians wouldn't believe it but we really need rain down here in Tassie. Monthly total for Launceston sits at 0.6 mm and we are set to smash our previous driest October which was 9.9 mm. If we do not get any rain before Sunday morning which is a distinct possibility it could be our seco...

Re: Stretch of troughs with showers: October 25 to November

For the first time this October its raining here in Grindelwald (15 km north of Launceston). Easing off as I type - we may sneak 1mm.

Am I reading it correctly that this morning's model runs have jumped right off the previously predicted rain event for next week?

Re: More heat and possible showers: Oct 14 to 21

Its been a very dry October down here in Tassie. Incredibly Launceston's monthly total to date is 0.2mm. Looking ahead we are a big chance to break the record for our driest ever October which was 9.8 mm set in 2008.

An amazing 27 degrees in Hobart at 920 am. Should beat the forecast of 29 comfortably!

Re: First week of August: Cold, wet and windy

Having lived in Launceston all my life (48 years) this morning was the first time I can recall snow falling in the city. It was settling on higher suburbs such as Prospect (180m). Has quickly melted now though. Still some snow showers passing through. Lots of low level snow reported this morning eve...

Re: Showers and windy: July 22 to 29

Hi Droughtbreaker. Acknowledging of course that this is a Victorian thread but is there enough moisture for us to get low level snow in Tassie? Many years ago people were on skis travelling over the Tasman bridge when snow fell in the Hobart CBD.

Loving the look of next Monday here in Tassie and Victoria. If the models hold up there could be snow to very low levels.

About to head off to the big game at Aurora Stadium in Launceston between the Hawks and Freo. Temperature is 14 degrees currently and overcast. Except for 5 mm overnight its been a non event here. Can't remember there ever being a time in winter when Northern Tassie has been warmer than both Adelaid...

Not sure whether to be grateful or jealous about this event in Tassie. We are expecting a mild maximum of 13 degrees on Sunday for the big Hawthorn Fremantle game!!

Is it likely that the anticipated 90000 people at the MCG for the big clash between Australia and England on Saturday will see much cricket?

Heavy rain in Tasmania overnight. Mt Wellington tops the list with 147 mm!, Copping 107 mm, Gray 93 mm, Clifton Beach 92 mm, Hobart 69 mm, Swansea 58 mm, Launceston 44 mm. I had 46.2 mm here at Grindelwald. LOW starting to slip away to the South East so rain will ease soon. Lighter falls in the Nort...

A pleasant 25 degrees in Launceston at the moment. This event has been non existent for Tassie so far with no rain falling since Thursday. Looks good for some moderate falls overnight Tuesday into Thursday.

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

The trough/cold front has passed through Tassie. We had six hours of patchy rain until 4 this afternoon developing around 15mm. Now cloudy but cooler and less humid. We are watching with envy as all models have Tasmania just south of the action about to unfold with only a few showers here and there ...
