Rainfals in Tasmania since 9 am yesterday - mainly since 9 pm, Flinders Island 70.6 mm, Smithton 52 mm, Cape Grim 38 mm, Wynyard 26 mm, Sheffield 23 mm, Devonport 22 mm, Upper Esk 13 mm, Launceston 0.6 mm, Hobart 0 mm. More to come, hoping for more in the central north, disappointing so far.

Today's LOW was a bit disappointing, very patchy but some OK falls in places. Fisher River 20mm, Sheffield 17 mm, Strahan 17 mm, Western Creek 11 mm, Devonport 10 mm, Deloraine 8 mm, Launceston 1.6 mm Hobart 0.8 mm. Still a few heavy showers around on the radar.

GFS and ACCESS has the smallest LOW I have ever seen over us Thursday and Friday. We need rain having missed out on the last couple of events that have delivered good rain to Victoria. ACCESS hints at something mighty impressive late next week.

Looks like a LOW will develop on Thursday's front bringing much needed rain to Tasmania Thursday into Friday.

Vigorous cold front passed over Tasmania yesterday, rainfalls included Strahan 43 mm, Strathgordon 39 mm, Nugent 32 mm, Cradle Valley 29 mm, Tooms Lake 19 mm, Blessington 11 mm, Friendly Beach 10 mm, Launceston 4.8 mm, Hobart 2.6 mm, Devonport 1 mm

A beautiful day in Launceston today fro the Hawks vs Saints contest with the temperature reaching 20.9 degrees at 2.40 pm which exceeded the maximum temperature in Mildura which is very unusual. Only 32 mm of rain has fallen in Launceston so far in April.

Plenty of rain in Tassie's north west over the last 24 hours but not much as yet in the Central North. Wynyard 43.2 mm, Smithton 22.4 mm, Sheffield 19.4 mm, Devonport 16.6 mm, Strahan 13.2 mm Low Head 8.4 mm, Hobart 4.4 mm Launceston 2.8 mm.

Maximum temperatures today Launceston 26.0, Hobart 25.0 (warmer than Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney and on par with Brisbane), Grove 25.8, Bushy Park 25.9. In Launceston we have received only 17.8 mm for April and no rain has been recorded in the last 12 days.

Launceston reached a maximum of 25.4 degrees today at 248 pm. Other temperatures in Tassie today included 25.7 on Flinders Island, 26.5 in Strahan, 26.4 Fingal, 22.7 in Hobart and 24.1 at Hobart Airport. 24 degrees forecast in both Launceston and Hobart tomorrow. The average temperature for Launceston in April is 20 degrees. It is forecast to get above that temperature for all of next week with maximum temperatures of 20,22,23,24,22,22,22. Hobart will reach 25 and Melbourne 26 mid next week.

Looks like a pretty dry next 8 to 10 days in Victoria and Tasmania. Lots of green on the eight day raincast.

Maximum temperatures in Tasmania today included 26.4 at Friendly Beaches, 25.5 in Hobart and 22.7 in Launceston. Tomorrow's forecast temperatures are 26 in Hobart and 24 in Launceston. Maximum temperatures in Launceston over the next six days are forecast to be 19,21,20,22,24,25 with no rain forecast till late Saturday. Looks like a very boring stable week coming up. Expecting a lot of smoke here in Tassie next week as weather conditions have precluded fuel reduction burning for more than 12 months now.

25.5 degrees in Launceston today with early fog then a fine sunny day, the highest in Tasmania was 27.2 degrees in Cressy. Not much rain to speak of highest was 1 mm on Mt Wellington.

A late maximum of 27.8 degrees in Launceston today. at 4.25 pm. Average temperature for March 2017 so far is 26.4 degrees which is an amazing four degrees above average and is well above the January and February long term averages as well! It has reached 29.7 in Launceston this afternoon. Quite a few locations over 30 degrees with Hobart Airport at 32.9 being a standout. Launceston tracking about 4 degrees above the March average so far this month.
