Very wet in Tassie in the last couple of months. Catchments are saturated. Here at Grindelwald 15 km north of Launceston I received 150 mm in July and 66mm in the first six days of August

Re: Tasmania Day to Day Weather

Launceston would have to be one of the driest places on the Eastern seaboard this June. Only 24mm of rain recorded. We missed completely the cut off LOW in mid June. The dry spell goes back further with less than 30mm since May 17th. With less than 250mm for the year to date we are well down on aver...

Re: 11th June onwards - Cut off low

Feeling jealous here in Northern Tassie we look like the only place in South East Australia to miss out on this event completely. 0 mm so far in Launceston.

Re: Tasmania Day to Day Weather

Got to 32 degrees in Launceston today, that's five days above 30 in a row. Forecast tomorrow is 29 and showers, I'm hoping we can sneak 30 again to keep the run going right through to Wednesday. We are In for a warm night. Minimums above 20 are extremely rare here but it could be on the cards tonight.

Re: Warm first half of March Victoria

In Launceston we have reached 30 degrees for the fourth day in a row. By next Thursday this run could extend out to 9. Certainly unprecedented for March. In years gone by we could go whole summers without reaching 30 so this weather is extraordinary. Yesterday was our highest ever March temperature ...

Re: Tasmania Day to Day Weather

Launceston had its highest March temperature ever yesterday reaching 33.0 degrees, this breaks the previous record of 32.9 set in 2008. The next six days are forecast to be above 30 degrees. Nothing like this has happened before certainly not in March but any month. Some years we are lucky to get 5 ...

Re: Tasmania Day to Day Weather

Launceston's average for March is 22.5 degrees, so far this month we have had maximum temperatures of 24,27,27,28,30. Forecast for the days ahead is 31,32,29,30,28,30,31. So by the 12th of March our average could be an amazing 29 degrees!! This has to be some sort of record. Oh and we have had no ra...

28.3 degrees at Launceston Airport currently, Launceston going for a maximum of 32 degrees which is unusual considering the weak change is through.

Re: Vic - Extended heat spell - 3rd January onwards

Very hot down here in Tassie, fires extensive now, south of Bicheno, Lake Repulse, Dunalley (properties lost), Eaglehawk Neck, Tasman Peninsula. Very hot throughout the state, places on the North Coast like Devonport were only 23 degrees, benefitting from Bass Strait cooling. Still 38 in Hobart and ...
