Good to see some rain about and the snow down there HB.
Just 1mm here. That takes the month to a grand total of 15mm. It's looking like we'll end with a very dry month here, especially for spring.

Re: Early spring warmth/heat: September 12-?
Crazy levels of heat in NSW. I saw reports today that schools have closed on the south coast due to fire danger... and we're barely out of winter.
It's already up to 22.4c here and the wind is picking up. Would love some rain, but unfortunately it's looking very lean.

Re: Early spring warmth/heat: September 12-?
Wild winds overnight here... again. Pretty much every week from June we've had gale force winds and a severe weather warning from the bureau. An almost relentless pattern of northerlies that has gone on for months. A change would be very welcome. Strange to have a strong, yet bone dry cold front in ...

22.7c here today. A nice summer-like day, and I’m sure the garden is enjoying it. But it’s way too warm for the time of year. Average max for September is around 14c.
Very windy couple of days coming up for here. Might be back to regular watering again soon…

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy with a front followed by a deep low: September 4-7
Yes, looks to be a fairly long warm and dry spell coming up, although some of the forecast temps seem way out of place for the start of spring. It’s also not surprising given the broader climate drivers, with the next 6 months likely to bring plenty of extremes. About 12mm for the event here, includ...

A big contrast. A mostly dry day here and now the sun has popped out. Just 0.2mm. Still very windy at times, but definitely improving, albeit slowly.

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy with a front followed by a deep low: September 4-7
The wind was pretty bad here last night. Got woken up a lot to hear the house getting battered, and there was a fair bit of mess around the place this morning. Still very gusty this morning, but it has been slowly easing over the past couple of hours. Just a couple of brief showers here today but no...

10mm here. Got quite heavy at times and also better than forecast.
Surprisingly, the wind hasn’t actually been as bad as I thought it would have been. Would be good if it stayed that way, but unfortunately round 2 coming up overnight and tomorrow…

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy with a front followed by a deep low: September 4-7
Great result for east central. Way too rain shadowed here with all the wind, so just a very modest 1.4mm yesterday. Feeling spring-like here now, with many trees starting to leaf up and flowers in bloom. A little burst of cooler weather later this week after having almost 20c on Sunday; the typical ...

Re: A cool showery end to winter
Crazy, gale force wind overnight here. It has backed off slightly this morning, although still gusting like mad.
Not expecting much rain this afternoon, especially if the northerly is still strong. But hopefully most areas will see a few mm after a mild, sunny weekend.

Re: A cool showery end to winter
It does seem like we’re in that pattern now where systems struggle to deliver anything substantial. It’s a shame that the El Niño couldn’t have been offset by a negative IOD coming off last year’s set up - it’s amazing how quickly it all just flipped with the double whammy of El Niño and positive IO...

18c here yesterday, our warmest day since mid-May.
Some drizzle overnight and early this morning with a damp southerly, but only 1.8mm.
Yes, models generally lining up for a bit of rain around mid-week - hopefully it sticks.

A very welcome 22mm here, which includes 3mm on Monday night. Great to finally have a proper rainy day.
Also great to see some decent falls across fairly wide areas of the state. Cool night too. It dropped to 2.5c here overnight. Currently 8c and sunny.

Just a touch over 4mm here too. Probably won’t be much more, maybe the odd shower or two today.

12mm here yesterday evening. A thick fog also rolled in on the southerly, which has been so rare this winter, but something that normally happens regularly in other years.

5mm overnight.
Not a lot, but it's at least something. That takes us to a grand total of 5.4mm for the month. Lean times... for August last year we had 149mm.

Re: Becoming mild and windy, followed by a showery change: 3-8 August.
Yes, it hasn't really felt like a winter at all. I was actually thinking recently that we haven't even had a proper fog this season, and barely any hail, sleet etc. Every week seems identical to the previous one. For here, that means at least a couple of days of gale force winds or worse, accompanie...

Re: Becoming mild and windy, followed by a showery change: 3-8 August.
Really messed up weather this year. We reached 16.7c yesterday. A temp like that might happen late in August, but not typically at the start. And the overnight minimum we had of 11.5c is a fairly typical summer night. Also getting a bit concerned about the shortfall of rain. The grass is still green...

Re: Blustery change: July 27-
The non-winter rolls on. Sunny and mild again this morning. We did have a string of fairly cold mornings earlier in the week, which has helped bring down our average minimum for the month, although it's still almost 2 degrees above. Average maximum is running about 1 degree above. What is more unusu...

Re: Long mid winter mild spell under westerly flow: July 12-
That's interesting. We get frequent heavy frosts at Bolobek where I work. The whole farm is in a low area that used to be a huge wetland at the foot of Mt Macedon. It was drained and cleared when whiteys took over. It's the meeting point of five creeks, a natural frost hollow. We only get infrequen...
