Looks like we'll be having our first hot, windy, wild day for the season on Wednesday. Unfortunately, models aren't keen on any significant rain, at least this week. We could really do with some rain here. We finished October on 51mm, which is OK though below average. But we have only had 2mm since ...

34mm for the past couple of days here, taking us up to 49mm MTD.
Definitely tropical-like yesterday with it so warm, humid, and unstable. Had some nice storms come through here in the afternoon with a few good torrential bursts. Would be great if our summers were like this.

Great to see the widespread rain, especially across northern and western areas. 12mm here, including the rain we had yesterday afternoon. Lots of gusty winds overnight, but thankfully it seems to have calmed down a bit now. We do have some catching up to do with rainfall, as we're only on 27mm for ...

Just 0.6mm here on the weekend - we were in a very strong but not unexpected rain shadow with this set up. We finish the month on around 88mm. Counting ourselves lucky given the broader pattern. Really hoping things improve throughout the southeast as spring rolls on. I find it can be tricky with a ...

Hoping things improve soon for northern areas. Last year, we had a dry start but a wet end to spring. Don't know how likely that is to occur again, but maybe there is some potential with a developing La Niña? We've been a bit luckier this month after a dry August. 14mm here from yesterday's rain, ...

Fantastic seeing all the snow pics. What a great weekend. Mostly hail and sleety showers here on Saturday, but we had a couple of brief bursts of snow mixed in during the heaviest showers. Wouldn't count it as proper snow, but it certainly showed how cold the air was. We drove up to the top of Mount ...

That hail in Castlemaine looks incredible. We were hit with large hail here too, which may have even been the same storm, but nothing on that level. It was a very active day here yesterday, with several afternoon storms, including hail, very heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. This was then followed ...

It sure feels like summer this morning. The temp reached 21.5c overnight and currently just under 20c now.
Surprisingly, the wind wasn't too bad here, unlike the previous night. Still blustery, but it looks like it has been windier across Melbourne than here, which is rare with a northerly.

Gale force winds again here overnight. This round was actually worse than Monday's event, and actually felt like a cyclone at times. Only 0.8mm in the gauge. Expecting the wind to reduce a bit today before firing back up again tonight, and hoping that we do a bit better for rainfall on the next ...

Managed to get through relatively unscathed here. But geez, it was wild, and still gusting strongly. We lost power twice through the night, but it's back on now. The front came through with a bang too, around 3am. Very heavy rain, beating like crazy on the windows with the wind. Managed to get 7mm ...

Terrible winds here too - my least favourite weather (not that I get to choose it...). Suspect I'm not alone! Definitely my least favourite too. It's probably the only downside to living on the ranges, which otherwise has amazing seasonal weather. Managed 1mm here overnight following another round ...

Crazy wind here the past couple of days, and it's all set to fire up again tonight and then next week too. Thankfully, we have only had minor damage, nothing too major. Not sure how other people in the area have fared, but I'd imagine there was some larger damage in places given the strength of the ...

Great to see the storm reports. We got 23mm here yesterday from some direct hits, including loads of lightning, hail, and heavy rain. With last week’s rain, we’ve jumped up to 45mm for the month. We’ll likely still end up below average, but at least it’s not as dire. Nice day today, calm with sunny b ...

Struck it lucky here last night with a heavy period of rain. Didn't detect any thunder or lightning but managed 10mm. An area of light to moderate rain is currently making its way through here and across to Melbourne. It has produced 2mm here so far. Still a long way to go to make up the August ...

Where has winter gone? We've had some very nice sunny days, but it's kind of crazy for the time of year, especially this early in August. We've been around the 18-20c mark all week and currently close to 15c now, heading for another warm one today. I've even had hay fever all week, something I've ...

Very windy here overnight and this morning. So far it's shaping up to be a dry August, unless we get a big event towards the end of the month. We haven't had any rain at all so far. What a strange year. The rainfall has been especially inconsistent, from a couple of extremely wet months interspersed ...

Had 12mm here over the weekend and yesterday. That finishes July with 82mm. Not a bad result, especially with systems having generally favoured west and north facing areas, as is typical during a negative SAM. We had cloud cover throughout the night, so no frost here but the cloud has mostly cleared ...

Yes, we're very much rain shadowed here this morning. Not at all surprising given the set up. One only needs to go several kilometres north and it's a different story. It was a similar situation on the weekend, with only 6mm recorded here - lots of very strong wind but little rain. We're still about ...

20mm here over the past 24 hours. Nowhere near as much as eastern areas, but a decent drop nonetheless. The wind has also been a feature, especially yesterday and overnight, with big gusts and sideways rain at times.
Currently fog and a mild 9c. Should see some showers and/or drizzle at times today.

5c here this morning. Picked up about 5mm yesterday, bringing the month to 35mm, so tracking much better than the previous couple of months. An interesting week ahead, with plenty of activity. Looks like east central and coastal areas will do best in Vic, especially today and Monday with a ...
