Becoming hot then a low developing with possible showers and storms: January 3-

Exactly 34mm here today. The area around here has been very parched in recent weeks, so this will be a big relief for the landscape, wildlife, farming etc.

We’re also solely reliant on tank water. We have about 60,000 capacity, was down to about two-thirds yesterday and now back to full and ...

Deep low developing with showers, storms and snow possible on alps: December 21-24

6mm here. Also not looking forward to the heat and wind on Boxing Day, especially with the fire west of Gisborne still not under control. It is very dry around here, so really hoping that maybe something will change in the new year. December 2019 was very dry but the summer eventually turned wetter ...

Deep low with storms, gales and heavy rain: Nov 30-

Pretty much a bust here, only 1.8mm yesterday and nothing since. Obviously not in the right place for it. There doesn’t seem to be much else on the horizon for now. Hopefully something comes up closer to Christmas.

Deep low with storms, gales and heavy rain: Nov 30-

31mm here yesterday from beautiful soaking rain. That takes us up to 80mm for the week - very much needed after a dry 6 weeks.

20mm overnight here. That takes the month to 45mm. Still below average, but at least not so dire.

Looks like a good smattering of storms on the radar. Hit and miss, but could be some heavy bursts of rain.

Warm to hot, then rain and storms: Nov 21-29

21mm here, including drizzle overnight. It was great to see some proper rain again. Felt like it had been ages.

Perhaps the negative IOD is finally starting to kick in given the boost we're now seeing in atmospheric moisture. Would be great if we could get a big finish to the year. It will take a ...

Warm to hot, then rain and storms: Nov 21-29

A minimum overnight here of 20.8c, which followed yesterday's max of 34c. It has been a while since we've had these sorts of temps in November.

Still sitting on just 3mm for the month. But there is now some hope. Potential rain is looking good for a fair chunk of Vic tomorrow and then again by mid ...

Becoming hot and windy followed by a strong front with showers and storms: Nov 16-

Pretty much the expected outcome here. A few spits and spats, but not enough to register in the gauge. The sun's out now and another hot weekend is looming for next weekend. Maybe some rain then, or not. Models are currently messy, so it's a bit early to tell with any certainty at this stage. Looks ...

Becoming hot and windy followed by a strong front with showers and storms: Nov 16-

Strong and gusty winds here this morning. Will be a hot one. It's already 22c and will likely be above 30 by mid-afternoon. Looks like eastern and north-eastern Vic will do well with rainfall tomorrow, but it's fairly slim pickings in other parts of Vic. A strong rain shadow here, so wouldn't be ...

Becoming warm with a possible thundery change: November 11-13

Just a couple of mm here. 3mm MTD and a total of just 5mm in the past 4 weeks. Everything is very dry now and the landscape is browning rapidly, which will only accelerate this weekend with the hot winds.

Still no significant rain showing up in the models except perhaps eastern areas, despite the ...

Becoming warm to hot then possible thundery change: November 2-

I think the second half of the cool season is partly a result of the record sudden stratospheric warming back in mid winter. That disrupted the build up to the ozone hole, and that’s why we’ve had a weak, small and short lived ozone hole this year. That is probably why we keep getting these strong ...

Becoming warm to hot then possible thundery change: November 2-

Had a brief shower yesterday with the cool change and a brief thunderstorm on Wednesday. But neither delivered enough to actually tip the gauge.

We've only had 2mm in 3 weeks here, and with the heat and wind on Wednesday, everything is fast drying out and paddocks are turning brown. Still no clear ...

Becoming warm to hot then possible thundery change: November 2-

Looks like we'll be having our first hot, windy, wild day for the season on Wednesday. Unfortunately, models aren't keen on any significant rain, at least this week.

We could really do with some rain here. We finished October on 51mm, which is OK though below average. But we have only had 2mm ...

34mm for the past couple of days here, taking us up to 49mm MTD.

Definitely tropical-like yesterday with it so warm, humid, and unstable. Had some nice storms come through here in the afternoon with a few good torrential bursts. Would be great if our summers were like this.

Great to see the widespread rain, especially across northern and western areas.

12mm here, including the rain we had yesterday afternoon. Lots of gusty winds overnight, but thankfully it seems to have calmed down a bit now. We do have some catching up to do with rainfall, as we're only on 27mm for ...

Grand Final Weekend front

Just 0.6mm here on the weekend - we were in a very strong but not unexpected rain shadow with this set up.

We finish the month on around 88mm. Counting ourselves lucky given the broader pattern. Really hoping things improve throughout the southeast as spring rolls on. I find it can be tricky with ...

More fronts Sept 19-25

Hoping things improve soon for northern areas. Last year, we had a dry start but a wet end to spring. Don't know how likely that is to occur again, but maybe there is some potential with a developing La Niña?

We've been a bit luckier this month after a dry August. 14mm here from yesterday's rain ...

Blustery spring fronts with showers: September 5-10

Fantastic seeing all the snow pics. What a great weekend. Mostly hail and sleety showers here on Saturday, but we had a couple of brief bursts of snow mixed in during the heaviest showers. Wouldn't count it as proper snow, but it certainly showed how cold the air was.

We drove up to the top of ...

That hail in Castlemaine looks incredible. We were hit with large hail here too, which may have even been the same storm, but nothing on that level.

It was a very active day here yesterday, with several afternoon storms, including hail, very heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. This was then ...

It sure feels like summer this morning. The temp reached 21.5c overnight and currently just under 20c now.

Surprisingly, the wind wasn't too bad here, unlike the previous night. Still blustery, but it looks like it has been windier across Melbourne than here, which is rare with a northerly.
