Certainly one to watch. EC has a signifcant amount of rain in the Mallee next week. Hopefully that won't eventuate.

Also the TC in the Coral Sea... Hmmmm.

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

21mm here since yesterday, 59mm in the past week. El-Nino?

Thankfully my brother-in-law's farm near Manangatang only had 10mm overnight. 2/3rds of their wheat crop is yet to be harvested.... Other farmers near Swan Hill not so fortunate.

A bit of a disaster for the agriculture industry along the Murray....

Summer rice crops might be ok if they can get some heat into them in the next few months.

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Weird setup tonight. Big falls under slow-moving cells, but nothing in most areas.

We got 2mm this afternoon. Most of the rainband is in NSW.

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Accumulated 3mm from overnight drizzle (still patches of it now), 23.75mm to kick of this easterly dip sequence. But HEAPS more to come, this is CMC's latest: https://i.imgur.com/saZNwhS.png That would be very problematic for Gippsland. Yeah, and some frightening rain totals on this afternoon's GFS...

I'm hoping we get rain-shadowed by the Southeasterly winds. Farmers need dry weather to harvest their crops...

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Bendigo AWS has hit 422mm YTD (slightly below average), although we're closer to 460mm in Kangaroo Flat.

38mm last Friday. Nice weather the past few days and today. Then things get wet again. I'm thinking 25mm is likely.

35mm today - the vast majority of that falling in a torrential downpour and active storm around 6pm.

Some local flash-flooding which dissipated quickly.

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Still a fair amount of inconsistency across models regarding rainfall totals. It could end up being a bit of a patchy system, with some areas getting a decent amount (especially with storms) and others not so much. Despite that, most areas of Vic and Tas look likely to get at least some rain over t...

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

The farmers around here don't want rain atm. They're busy harvesting and it would largely be of nuisance value. I'm thinking 15-25mm might be possible on Friday-Saturday. We got nothing yesterday (after they were pretty adamant we would get 5-10mm), which makes me think the forecast models are overc...

A very high cloud-base storm over parts of Bendigo at present. It's chucking out some CGs, but no precip yet.

Yesterday there was a decent storm over Lake Eppalock and surrounds. Redesdale got 20mm in it.

Re: Two deep lows: October 21-28

October 2023 came in slightly below average temperature wise for Bendigo. And rainfall slightly above average at 56mm - Contrary to basically every climate forecast model. The early-October downpour did wonders for the crops in Victoria, and it'll be another bumper harvest this year. There was some ...

Unfortunately quite a bit of frost in the Wimmera overnight. That could impact grain crops.

Re: Two deep lows: October 21-28

Looks dry for us. But not a bad thing given crops need to dry out. Interestingly it could be a bigger grain crop in Vic this year than last, due to the lack of flood damage.

Apart from the occasional warm day, it looks quite mild for the rest of October.

Re: Heavy rain and storms, with mountain snow: October 3-

Lake Eildon is full again. And it looks like they've begun releasing water. When I saw the prefrontal convection near Mildura on Monday evening, I had a gut feeling this was going to deliver. Such a good system to have with the +ve IOD really starting to kick in off Sumatra (significant upwelling of...
