Guess new thread time. Quite a long live trough, so hot in the north, warm in the south and some showers. Maybe a proper break in the pattern in about a week.
Can we have a new thread/ title hillybilly (or anyone else?) Would be good to discuss some potentially interesting upcoming weather, but ...

We ended up with a round two last night that took our total to 45mm.
Ecstatically happy with that! I was not expecting anything.
Excellent news Macedonian. 44mm here (and spot falls nearby to 66mm). I'll have to check records later but that would be our highest daily total for ages, for any ...

The Geelong storm, viewed from across the road from my house, Cranbourne. Quite a structure. Looks violent. Definite green tinge
Great pic! Vic Emergency app is lighting up for building damage and flooding in parts of Geelong.

Anyone know how to access BOM's thunderstorm forecast charts? I note they're sometimes published on BOM's Facebook page, but there's no pattern to if or when?
For example, I saw today's chart on another weather site (forecast issued at 1.59am this morning - shows a large area of 'likely ...

43.5mm for us for January (average 63.5mm) most of which fell in the first 13 days - only 1mm since. Lovely cool week apart from the spike day on Australia Day holiday (when I was nice and cool in the Tassie highlands) but heating up fast now.
Crossing everything for a storm tomorrow...
(PS: BOM ...

Only 8 mm at Mansfield. I was expecting more than that.
At least the Eildon catchment overall got good rain yesterday, with inflows today at 5000 ML/d - not bad for mid-January, even if they don't last.
We finished with 18mm, at the high end for the district (for once)! Heard of one 20mm. Most ...

Ballarat forecast just updated: 'The chance of a thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon, possibly severe, with damaging winds, large hail and heavy falls in the afternoon and early evening.'
The last bit is new - so seems BOM think the worst (best?) is yet to come?
So basically the usual ...

Thanks for all that Didjman.
Well the storm part is certainly happening - non-stop rumbles getting very close, and rain just starting. Guess severity will be revealed in the coming hours!
Edit: Rain very heavy now* (Just checked - 12mm in about as many minutes). Full force lightening right ...
