Hillybilly (David), Blackee (Anthony) & me, 93ben (Ben) have taken over running the forum after the passing of Rivergirl (Robyn) last year . I just wanted to let you know that I'm currently in the progress of cleaning up and updating things after I was able to finally gain access to it. We will post more later.

Re: Vic - strong cold front with potential snow 19-22/11/22

La Nina is just evening up the score for all of the relentless above average temps and droughty El Nino years. Only three years ago the whole of eastern Australia was baking and burning up. Give me the cool and damp any day. Agreed, anything is better than bushfire conditions. But as I'm often requ...

Re: Vic - strong cold front with potential snow 19-22/11/22

40mm here for the dates, 137mm mtd, 1072.5mm ytd - 22mm shy of our wettest year in my 25 years of records, with the rest of November and December still to go.

Just extraordinary weather; relentless for rain, cold and wind. As a package, can't recall anything like it.

Re: Vic - strong cold front with potential snow 19-22/11/22

25-30mm around here, about double the forecast.

Back to winter temps; running about 2.5C below average and no doubt that will drop further by the end of this week.

Most local flooding so far this year after between 45mm (us) and 85mm (just down the road).

Hardly any rain falling when I went to bed, and none when I got up, but 40mm in between :o . 5mm since in short, heavy showers. 90mm mtd, 1025.5mm ytd.

Brief forecasts - which were updated - are next to useless for detail, like this:

No, you're talking about the brief forecasts. The detailed forecasts are still stuck; e.g.

Re: Warm week with troughs, showers, storms Nov 7 - 13th

You need to be pretty certain about things before putting a Very high (near 100%) chance of showers developing during the late morning and afternoon into your "all eggs in one basket approach" Melbourne forecast. At least you've got a forecast. As I first mentioned many posts ago, all the...

Re: Warm week with troughs, showers, storms Nov 7 - 13th

Here's a weird one: 9.40am and detailed daily BOM forecasts for regional towns - Bendigo, Ballarat, Hamilton, etc. - haven't been released yet. 'Latest' updates from 9.08pm last night? Meanwhile, we are doing a good job (thankfully) of dodging the storms here with only 14.5mm in total for the dates ...

20mm for November, 955.5mm ytd.
(November max temp is running about 10C below average - fairly small sample size :) but no wonder we're burning so much firewood.)

Re: Vic - major storm event 30/10 - 3/11/22

That said, we just had 45 minutes of lovely proper snow. It didn't settle the way the grapes did this morning but it was lovely to watch big fat flakes falling into our verdant green flowery garden. 3.3° to 6.6°max for us today. 4.7° now. Relieved to hear that, would have been plain wrong if you mi...

Re: Vic - major storm event 30/10 - 3/11/22

Got caught out in very heavy Sago snow for about 40minutes. Bloody freezing! 5° now. I never understand how you miss the snow in systems like this Macedonian, when you have 250m of elevation over us! Surely you'll get some from the approaching cell? It absolutely 'poured' sleet here with the odd fa...

Genuine snow falling here - not bad for midday on 1 November :o .

Since reverted to sleet but got good video of the actual snow - will see if I can get a convincing screenshot to post.

Re: Vic - major storm event 30/10 - 3/11/22

Constantly amazing weather! We are now on 191mm mtd, which puts us in range of out wettest total in any month in our 26 years here of 202.5mm in May 2019. Ytd is 934.5mm Further to hillybilly's note, BOM forecasts have snow for the Alps for 5 days straight starting Monday (and that's not including f...

Cold light-the-fire day yesterday, but feels like Sydney this morning. Another 7mm makes 156mm mtd, which is a new October record for our 26 years here.

Very strange weather, and looking more and more like a properly cold system for early next week on the back of hillybilly's low :? .

Re: Another rain bearing low: 20th - 23rd Oct

Another 20mm overnight, 40mm since Friday. MTD is 218mm which makes it the wettest month ever recorded in Bendigo (data from 1865). And the month isn't over yet Previous wettest October was 207mm in 1975, previous wettest month was Feb 1911 with 214mm. That's an incredible total, and as you say, wi...

Re: Another rain bearing low: 20th - 23rd Oct

We've had a good run here so far with storms staying west of us (just).

Geez it wants to rain though - one cell popped up out of nowhere and it bucketed down for a few minutes.
