1mm here from a very dry & shredded rainband.
Anyone know if there's still thunderstorm potential for central Vic today?
Severe storms in our BOM forecast this morning, and lots of talk about central Vic storms on the various news forecasts last night, but I can't see it?

Oct next week, how the f is it Oct already just crazy. I know! Sneaks up... Meanwhile back on the weather front, finished September on 64mm vs 79mm average (27 years). Running about 190mm below average ytd, despite consistent climate outlooks to the contrary. Would be nice to get some catch-up rain ...

A welcome 8mm here; not enough to get us to average for September, but anything is a bonus this year!
Interestingly, rainfall frequency this month has been good - we've had 19 rain days, and never more than two days without rain. It's just the totals that have been lacking.

Re Murray flows, flow to South Australia is a reasonable guide. Still looking okay, but a long way behind this time last year.

It's shaping up to be a disaster for many crop growers: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-18/failing-crops-frost-drought-mallee-grain-farmers-hay-rainfall/104358994 BOM climate rainfall forecasts have also been terrible of late. Can anyone confirm this… ? Doesn’t seem right that it’s that bad they ...

After a small break, looks like another series of fronts with showers and cool/ cold conditions until at least next Wednesday.
Details vary across the models, but precipitation should add up for southern Vic and the ranges, and might be another wind/ rain/ snow/ cold slamming for Tasmania?

Some amazing cold records from this lot: -7C is a spring record for Canberra, -4.6C at Keith record spring cold for South Australia. Lots of two, three or four decade records too.
Bit of a flip from August! Winter didn't leave quite as early as we thought. Glad we restocked the firewood last week...

Some cold, heavy showers with ice in them here so far, but nothing really snow-like yet, with a minimum of 4C. Assume colder air is expected, with BOM's Central District forecast this morning dropping the snow level to 500m asl (vs 600m asl in yesterday afternoon's forecast)? FWIW I record proper ...

Sounds like the warning for destructive winds in the Macedon Ranges, which came through on Vic Emergency yesterday evening, didn't quite eventuate. Good to hear! Half a tree down in our front yard this morning, and lots of big branches and a few trees down between here and Bungaree. Certainly the ...

1mm to start the month; along with more relentless wind. The chainsaw is getting a bit of work now.
Hope everyone is okay, especially hillybilly - Tassie getting smashed with wind and rain. Next 24 hours will be a challenge for most of us, but especially the Vic coast and Tassie.

Cracking front this morning for TAS. Numerous cracks of thunder and heavy rainfall. Another 10mm in the gauge and monthly now sat on 105mm. Looking at Hobart the combined July-August total is the highest since 1990. Out west best falls in the past 24 hours are around 50mm, with many sites over ...
