Re: Cold outbreak 3 August - ?

My brother is in Noojee and they’ve had some light sticking snowfalls there this morning ❄️. It’s fairly unusual in winter as they’re only @ around 270asl! About 40 mins ago here (Croydon) we had some graupel mixed with the odd floaty snowflake! It only lasted about 20 seconds. Temp dropped to 4 deg...

Another flooded garage here in Croydon. The rain has been on and off all day but that last torrential downpour about an hr ago with thunder and a little bit of tiny hail in it has caused the issue. :| Hate to think what it’s goibg to look like this time tomorrow!

Re: Victoria - Strong front and possible low: June 5-

Yep, we're in Croydon - I was lying in bed reading and heard the rumble and the house make light cracking noises, thought it might have been thunder but then Hubby was standing in the kitchen and called out that the floor had vibrated! Not a very strong one but bit of excitement on a damp Monday nig...

Here's the pics of today's funnel cloud near Winchelsea. Please excuse the quality - was snapped with the iPhone through the windscreen while on the highway!

Re: Vic: Epic low pressure sequence over SE AUS - Sept 28 - Oct 4 2016

Heading back from Kennett River today, and about a km out of Winchelsea we spotted this funnel cloud! Saw it come down about 1/2 way to the ground before it retreated up again - must be done very unstable air out there! :tornado: :tornado: :tornado: :tornado: It happened at 1:15pm - Snapped some pic...

Re: Vic: Epic low pressure system over SE AUS - Sept 28 - 30 2016

So hubby and I are down at Kennett River this week, visiting my brother, his partner and their 2 year old. We are staying in the caravan park as their place is teeny (they are renovating/looking to extend). Very nervous about this system. We are due to come home Friday :o . The road into Apollo Bay ...

Torrential rain mixed with hail and scary blustery winds just roared through Croydon...gutters overflowing in less than 5 mins!

Re: Victoria: Potential showers & storms - 9th-12th October

Looks like we're about to get smacked with the main course here in Croydon! ;) The entrée was nice about an hour ago - quite a few rumbles and an intense downpour with teeny tiny hail and a strong downdraft. Feeling very "January in Queensland" as opposed to "October in Melbourne"...

Re: Cold outbreak with rain and maybe snow - 11-15th July

Flew to Canberra today for work, just a day trip. Was foggy, wet, cold and sleeting up there this morning. Fined up in the afternoon, we had a 3pm flight back and flew over the Brindabellas which had a nice dusting of fresh snow. They are forecasted for snow in Canberra itself on Sunday....so this s...

Lots of storm damage along station st between Nunawading and Mitcham! Must have been strong winds, just went past on the train and there are trees snapped in half and roofing ripped off the brick place! Winds must have been strong! :o

Re: Cooler with showers: March 21-24

Cracking thunderstorm here now in Burwood, and yes the cloud formations were spectacular looking east - radar looks cool long thin line of red shooting down south eastwards. Overall with the pace it's moving it would be lucky to drop 1mm in the gauge. If it clears up and we get some sunshine, may se...

Re: Victoria: Showers and storms - Feb 25 to early March 201

I have been amazed at how much the BOM has downgraded the rain forecast for this weekend over the course of the week! :? It's gone from 10-15 mils of rain on Sunday, to now "slight chance afternoon shower". That's a big shift. Has this system fooled all the models with it's fizzle? Gloriou...

Power went out at work (Burwood) around 2pm so they sent us all home, was getting VERY stuffy in the office! Quite widespread outage, all minor traffic lights out on Burwood Hwy heading East until Blackburn Rd. Now home in Croydon, hearing cracking thunder....5 second short sharp bursts of rain that...

Re: Spring (temperature) Roller Coaster: October 7 to 12

Sunday is looking interesting with some models now showing chance of thunderstorms, hail and snow down to 800 meters. We're off to Bright on Sunday for a week's holiday, would be lovely to get a dusting of late spring snow over the mountains before the weather starts to warm up later next week! So a...
