Struggling to see much for Western Victoria and the Surf Coast, just more heat. Running 3.2C above average for month after two previous months of above 2.5C daytime averages. Humidity will temper fire danger next week but the bush just gets drier. Nearing the halfway mark of summer, when will ...

The absence of cold fronts seem to be impacting the rainfall patterns of Western Victoria, as they've been doing in South western WA for a while now. Those rain bands that come down from the north rarely deliver for the Surf Coast, although Saturday was an exception. 21mm for November against an ...

another day of no storms....
i wonder if the state will see any of them yet?
a lot of fog and humidity then drizzle, but thats all
I think its to do with the cloud cover, not allowing any heating and convection to occur
Storms aren’t in the progs until late Tue into Wed. The ingredients ...

It always frustrates me how the coldest air in these scenarios nearly always gets flung out into central NSW and southern Queensland 😒
Victoria is always the bridesmaid never the bride.
Haha, what does that make Melbourne? Always the braidsmaid, never the maid of honour? The Otways, tassie ...

I cringe whenever "polar blast" is used in the media. Winter so far has been completely humdrum. There've been some chilly nights, but we always get those when rain bearing systems are scant. Bring on the blustery, showery days that chase you inside.
Winter only seems to get cranking mid to late ...

The last time BoM had a conference advising of 200mm falls, it failed spectacularly. People were told to go home early from work, change plans etc. In the end, something like 5mm fell.
At least they're abandoning their el nino narrative. Should've listened to other amateur meteorologists who ...

Just arrived home after ten days o/s. Missed all of the action here. Just emptied 133mm out of the gauge. YTD is now 1097mm. So very happy.
Only one day out of the ten we were away managed to squeak above 20°. A good long period of cool weather. No days above 30° over ten months now.
Love it ...

This one again looks impressive and very long lived. Days of humid weather. Starts with showers and rain then sorta clears, then showers and storms return in waves. Should deliver for all of southeast Australia, and be heavy out in western Vic and South Australia which is a bit unusual.
We are ...

The high pressure ridge looks impenetrable on the synoptic maps. Hopefully mid to late August delivers (it often does).
Starting to worry about summer. After a couple of wet years, there's quite a bit of fuel around; and if the monsoon fails during an El Nino in this day and age expect record ...

We're so overdue for a decent front. When was the last good one? The start of winter?
This is turning into the most boring winter ever.

I’m disappointed. These lows tend to circle around Melbourne, sending streams of rain out west or out east, never through central (it seems). However, the autumn break is very welcome. Things have greened up and everything feels fresh. Hopefully we have an active winter.
