Blustery spring fronts with showers: September 5-10

It got very windy from the NW again yesterday, but this time warm 28C. then it cooled gradually and very slowly morphed into light steady spring rain for 6 hours. I got 12.5mm from it, a mate is out cutting silage already!

Deep ECL with heavy rain, gales, storm surge and some snow

Well the Tasman Low has formed, models still showing an interesting meander for it over the next few days. Someone will get very damp from it, this one will be hard to model, and its potential track is unusual for us in Vic's SE.

Easterly low followed by a series of fronts: July 9-

We got an unexpected 10.5mm over a 6 hour period early this morning. Adds to 24.5mm earlier in the week.

If we get another 30mm next week as EC suggests it'll be gumboots on for 4 weeks around here.

ECL and cold fronts 5 April - 12 April

ECL and cold fronts 5 April - 12 April

Picked up 47.25mm here with the Saturday night easterly rain event. Adds to 19mm we got 6 days back to provide the Autumn break for Nth Central Gippsland, soil temp still 18C and grass growth is amazing today. Expecting another 12mm tonight with the cold front, from tomoz on, cool weather will slow ...

8mm for this event here. All erased by 2 days of very strong SW'ly wind. Looks like 2 weeks off here rainwise, but it wont by summer heat either from what I can see coming.

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

If a low develops, should focus over/near Tassie, yep, something has to cool the SST anomaly in Bass Straight:

.....I wonder how the above chart would look if they did the honest thing and update the anomaly dataset from 1981-2010 to 1993-2023?

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Persistent overnight drizzle tallied another 10.75mm to take us to 43mm for this event, has returned to a light occasionally drizzly easterly morning here - which I was expecting to be SW'ly in the wake of the departing low. Macalister and Thompson rivers have returned to minor flood level again ...

Re: UPDATE: Reactions & Sharing Media

Thanks for that Ben, but for me the minor issue is with which page of a multi page thread you are currently sifting through: https://i.imgur.com/JSPpGhh.png In the above I'm on P3 but hard to know it. I notice that as you scroll the pages, the backlighted block around the current page number changes ...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Relentless rain in these parts. Passing through 90mm since this all started mid-morning yesterday. MTD already 140mm. Was woken by loud thunder around 4am and torrential downpours with RR peaking at 158 mm/hr. It was disturbing to say the least :o Getting seriously wet in many areas of Vic now ...

New look seems good Ben. For multipage threads, do you reckon you can invent a way to show the reader which page is currently being viewed?

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Its been a waiting game here in Nth Central Gippsland, in a rain lull this morning however tallied 10.5mm in overnight drizzle patches - 15.5mm for this event so far. Albiet EC is predicting heavy rain to set in here from basically now onwards. Agree with HB re weak el nino/impact winter-spring/less ...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Plenty of water vapour pouring down from the NW, with most models in agreement of handy rainfall/storms to arrive over Vic Sunday evening through Monday:

The reforming easterly dip scenario appears to deliver again:

Its going to be a wet 2024 (and probably a decade or two onwards, going by the solar trends).

Re: Mild then more showers, 29 Dec to 5 January

The decaying storm system spilled down from the mountains last evening with a few distant rumbles and flashes, settled into a period of light rain which delivered 4.5mm.

Will see if the trough heads east back over us this arvo, warm calm humid cloudy here atm.

Re: Wet Christmas 23 to 28 December

Just arrived home after ten days o/s. Missed all of the action here. Just emptied 133mm out of the gauge. YTD is now 1097mm. So very happy. Only one day out of the ten we were away managed to squeak above 20°. A good long period of cool weather. No days above 30° over ten months now. Love it. The C ...

Re: Wet Christmas 23 to 28 December

Some heavy SSE'ly showers pushed us 32mm here for this event yesterday afternoon (possibly the lowest tally in Central Gippsland luckily). Campers and water skiers at Lake Glenmaggie will be having a ball due to the better exposed beaches resulting from lowering its level by 1 metre due to the ...
