Re: Warming up to early season heat possibly followed by rain: Late September to early October

Yesterday was I reckon, the windiest day here for 20 years, started in the morning as a howling NW'ly, then veered to the west with a sustained gale force wind from the West that lasted through to the late arvo. 31C in morning, 21C by 6pm. The Briagalong fire took off at 10am, much like the Sarsfiel...

Re: Climate change

When they are now telling our children that it is no longer climate warming, no longer climate change, no longer climate emergency, ....but now is promoted as climate BOILING. Most rational people, many like me with daily temperature/rainfall records going back 40+ years, are realizing that this is ...

Re: Blustery change: July 27-

An amazingly low tally of 5.75mm here for July.

The end of week system now is mooted by GFS to become a cut off low over Vic, not Tas. This would fix Gippslands rainfall deficit in 2 days if it were to come off:

Re: Troughs and a low 5 June - ?

After a weeks of constant ABC reports that the BOM is predicting dry months ahead, looks like we are heading into a period of repeated damp frontal systems.

6.5mm here overnight, still drizzling and cold. Will be at Merimbula today, tomorrow looks a bit wild for that area with a cut off low.

Re: Late April Low/Cold Fronts: 25-29th April 2023

We got 3.75mm from an overnight period of light drizzly rain. Back to a calm cool 18C max today after a 5 day string of 22-25C days.

52.25mm for this month, only 10mm or so below average, not bad for the farmers sowing pasture around here past 3 weeks.

Re: Two more lows 12-18 April

Yep Twister, rare to get a Vic rain event that delivers for most of Vic at the April planting season. I tipped out 28.25mm just before, takes Maffra to 36.25mm for this thread. Cold and clear skys to the West now. 52.5mm here for this month so far, farmers happy. I wonder if a (season last-gasp) SE ...

Re: Two more lows 12-18 April

Drizzly periods arrived here mid yest arvo, persisted on and off under a light NE'ly till later at night, then rained steadily through to 1030 am before a brief pause. Expecting an inch or more in the gauge when I empty it this evening. Thankyou TC Ilsa.

Re: A deep low for Easter 2023

A very cold 14C max here today and another 3mm from frequent brief windy showers to take us to a 12.75mm tally for the last 3 days. Would be tough conditions for those camping up the bush.

Re: A deep low for Easter 2023

Had a few high based weak storms about Nth Gippy yest arvo/evening, a mild warm day. Light showers from the Nth have been around on and off here since last evening, but only tally to 6mm so far. Still quite mild out, ...the Foehn effect.

Re: Complex cut off low with rain and storms:March 26-31

After a hot and muggy 30C yesterday, evening storms brewed around Nth Central Gippsland which preceded a misty period into the night, then steady rain set in late at night and persisted till early arvo here. We missed rain from last evening's storms, but the rain period delivered an amazing 58mm her...

11mm here last night (14.5mm total past two nights), might need to see if the mower wants to start in coming days.
