Cornwall UK Flooded bad.

Post by SunsetTwilight »

Main roads have been closed, a landslide has stopped train services in and out of Cornwall and some schools have been shut.
Bodmin, Luxulyan, Lostwithiel, Par, St Austell, St Blazey and St Blazey Gate have been badly affected. In Portloe, an empty car was swept into the harbour.

Some photos here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11774213 Glad to hear nobody was hurt, but such a long and painful process to clean up! I couldn't find any info on exactly how much rain fell though?

Completely off topic, but some of the buildings and bridges in those photos are just gorgeous :)

Cornwall is a lovely place

Cornwall rainfall

* Cardinham: 50mm
* Culdrose: 28mm
* Camborne: 27mm

St Blazey, St Austell, Mevagissey and Lostwithiel were the worst hit areas. The Met Office said a further 10mm (0.4in) of rain could fall overnight.

One woman in Lostwithiel said her car was swept 80ft to 100ft (25m to 30m) away from her home and was left wedged in a pile of rubble down the road.
