I will allow the world weather topic for general discussion on weather around the world, and this one here to indulge my interest in the weather in Italy in particular.
I will start with reporting the temperatures registered yesterday in various Italian cities.
Saturday 5th December 2009
Turin: -2 to 9
Novara: -1 to 12
Milan: 3-12
Bergamo: 4-12
Brescia: 4-11
Genoa: 5-12
North West:
Mostly cloudy conditions throughout. Some rain developing in Liguria by evening. South westerly winds increasing with rough seas along the Ligurian coast.
Central Italy:
Clouds increasing in Tuscany, sunny to partly cloudy elsewhere. Temperatures will be cool to mild. Winds will decrease slightly, with waves also decreasing.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Some clouds about, but for the most part fine and mostly sunny. Cool to mild temperatures with winds decreasing. Waves will also decrease.
North West:
Scattered showers almost everywhere, with snow in the Alps above 1600m. Highs mostly decreasing. Strong winds with very rough seas along the Ligurian coasts.
North East:
Cloudy skies. Rain in Emilia, around Verona and in Trentino Alto Adige. With showers increasing elsewhere. Snow above 1800m in the Dolomites. Temperatures remaining stable. Light winds increasing at night. Mostly calm seas, becoming choppy by night.
Central Italy:
Clouds everywhere, thicker along the Tyrrhenian coasts. Rain falling along the Tuscan coast. Highs may slightly rise. Strong winds and rough seas along the coast of Tuscany.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Fine weather on the islands, some clouds elsewhere, especially along the Tyrrhenian coasts. Not much change in the highs. South westerly winds and rough seas around Sardinia, calmer conditions everywhere else.
North West:
Fine and mostly sunny all over the north-west. Maximum temperatures will be mild for winter. Winds becoming light. However the Ligurian Sea will still be rough.
North East:
Sunny weather all over the north east, with some clouds in the Alps about Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and along the Venetian coast. Maximum temperatures falling by a couple of degrees. Light to moderate northerly winds, with rough seas in the Adriatic.
Central Italy:
Clouds along the Adriatic coast, with isolated showers in Abruzzo and Molise. Snow falling above 1000m. Maximum temps falling where the clouds are forming, mild temperatures in sunny areas. Strong northerly winds.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Scattered showers in Apuglia and Calabria, in inland areas of Basilicata and Campania and in the north of Sicily. Isolated snowfalls above 1000m along the Appennines. maximum temperatures falling. Moderate to strong northerly winds with very strong and rough seas.
Thanks John, at times I will be able to show what the temps actually were as well as forecasts but the site I get them from don't update as often. So sometimes I post them, but you will see forecasts every day. (well whenever I can!)
Yesterday was fine and sunny over most of the country, was cloudy though in parts of the south and still very windy down there. In the north and centre, clear sunny with light winds.
North East:
Clouds developing in the Triveneto regions, with some flurries of snow in Alto Adige. Mostly sunny skies in Emilia-Romagna. Highs begining to fall with stronger northerly winds.
Central Italy:
Clouds and possible showers developing along the Abruzzo and Molise coasts. Sunny along the Tyrrhenian coasts, and Umbria. The weather will deteriorate in Le Marche by night. Not much change in temperatures, despite the strong northerly winds developing.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Apulia and Basilicata see the worse of conditions, with showers falling there, mostly in the evening. These showers will enter Calabria overnight. Fine elsewhere. Highs begining to fall wit moserate northerly winds and choppy seas.
North West:
Some clouds in Liguria and eastern Lombardy, but mostly cloudy elsewhere. Snow around Cuneo. Temperatures falling. Moderate easterly winds with seas rising.
North East:
Fine to the north and east, some clouds and possible snow in the Romagna area. High temperatures falling. Strong Bora winds will cause the Adriatic to become choppy.
Central Italy:
Partly cloudy in Lazio, mostly cloudy elsewhere. Some rain possible in southern Tuscany. High temperatures falling, especially along the Tyrrhenian coast. Moderate scirocco winds with slightly choppy seas.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Cloudy with possible showers in Sardinia. Moderatly cloudy elsewhere, especially over Sicily. Temperatures remaining seasonal. Moderate winds over the islands, light over the southern mainland.
North West:
Mostly cloudy with snow falling about Cuneo and eastern Lomabardy. Temperatures falling further. Strong northerly winds in Liguria with rough seas.
Aosta: -1to4 mostly cloudy
Turin: 0-4 possible snow
Milan: 1-3 possible snow
Genoa: 4-7 cloudy
North East:
Scattered showers along the coast of Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Venezia-Giulia. Snowfall inland turning back into rain. Maximum temperatures falling.Strong Bora winds casuing choppy seas in the Adriatic.
Central Italy:
Mostly cloudy with showers, decreasing in Molise and Tuscany. Maximum temperatures remaining cool to mild. Strong Scirocco winds causing choppy seas.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Cloudy with isolated showers in Campania, Puglia, the Ionian coast, Sicily and northwest Sardinia. Maximum temperatures slowly rising. Strong scirocco winds with very rough seas.
Yesterday was very cold, especially in the north. With winds coming straight from Russia. There was some rain on the eastern coasts and south with fine weather on western sides.
North East:
Gradual clearing conditions, snow clearing beginning from the west. Freezing Bora winds, quite strong. Temperatures remaining cold. With the Adriatic Sea choppy.
Central Italy:
Partly cloudy to cloudy over the entire area. Showers falling mainly in Lazio and Tuscany. Temperatures remaining below average for winter. Moderate northerly winds with choppy seas.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Cloudy or overcast conditions. Rain falling in parts of Calabria, Northern Sicily and the Salento. Cold temperatures beginning to rise. Strong southerly winds turning west with rough seas.
Pisa: 0-1
Florence: -2to2
Grosetto: 1-7
Perugia: 1-4
Ancona: 0-1
Viterbo: 0-4
Rome: 5-9
Rome A/P 3-8
Pescara: -3to7
Campobasso: -1to2
Now while most if not all of northern and central Italy were very cold, most of the southern cities made up for it with mild temps!!!!
North West:
Clear skies over most of the region with the possibility of some cloud developing in the mountains of Valle d'Aosta. Temperatures remaining cold, possibly colder in some parts. South westerly winds developing, getting stronger causing heavy seas along the Ligurian coast.
North East:
Some clouds along the southern Alpine valleys of the north east. Mostly sunny skies elsewhere. Temperatures will be close to 0, especially over the plains. Moderate winds with slightly choppy seas.
Central Italy:
Some clouds along the Adriatic coast, mostly sunny elswhere. A change in conditions effecting Tuscany at night. Maximum temperatures may be colder than yesterday. Locally strong north westerly winds will cause choppy seas.
Southern Italy and Islands:
Mostly cloudy skies. Some showers or snow above 600mm in Calabria and northern Sicily. Temperatures falling with very strong northerly winds developing. Very rough seas.
