And next year will make it the 3rd lowest, or maybe even higher...trends take time, we are cooling and have been for a while, ice is going to start increasing over coming years and the trend will be an increasing one.

The Arctic has been below normal all summer, heres the graph

Image

And ice extent is well above 2007 levels...

The other graphs show a lot more extent, this is the worst case scenario, but they all have the uptick with the dip in temps you can see from the first graph.

How many temperature stations are there in the Arctic?

Dozens over that big an area where they are 800 kms apart.

So if it is so warm, why is ice not decreasing since 2007? Could it be the natural phases of the oscillations cause ice melt?

I would say that statement is utter rubbish, in July there was the lowest decrease in extent in recorded history. There are many factors at play, heat is only one. If it was record heat Julys melt would have been greater than the previous 8 July years. Blaming it on heat is foolish, narrow minded and minutely correct.

The next 9 months will see enormous gains in ice extent.

I dont need to verify it, it will be verified by the results.

We are still a long way off having an ice free Arctic in the summer.

I love the terms scientists and skeptics, makes it sounds like a religion ;)

Latest Sea Ice news. Three things of note, its been the coldest summer on record north of 80N...and the PIOMAS model should be discounted completely as its woefully inaccurate.

And usually the melt season ends mid September. Not this year, the whole region is below freezing and the gains will be big.

This can all be seen from this weeks Arctic wrap.
