Happy for you lot on the other side of the bay to get whatever storms are left in the day, I've had enough. Had a few very close shotgun flangs, four hours of rumbles with only a couple of lulls in between has been enough for the SDS to subside.

these storms are brutal, had a bolt from the blue strike just nearby and knock power out, instant gunshot thunder, saw it land out the window somewhere.... was sunny and blue sky in the direction i saw it....nothing close since, just distant rumbles

looks like thats it, developed pretty much everywhere except for here, and the one big strike out of the blue - was hoping for a good flooding downpour to test the new gutters

I saw flashes of lightning last night on my drive home from croydon to templestowe. It was pretty decent.

A fair few storms about here, especially around the middle of the day, but they were all fast moving. We also scraped most of them and the couple that hit directly were over in minutes. So only managed 1mm. Some great big booms and plenty of flashes though, so still a lot of storm activity.

Now it’s 29c, humid and mostly clear. It’s a long way out and obviously far from reliable, but maybe signs of a wet Christmas coming up?

A few passing rumbles today here in Berwick, but despite the pretty amazing sounding and forecast this morning I did not have high hopes (trough too close to Melbourne for my liking) so I wasn’t disappointed. Last night’s storm was enough for me👌

If that trough was 100km or so further west at 9am this morning it would have been a different story for Melbourne but oh well

After teasing TAS for a week, finally scored last night. Cracking storms this morning peaking around 2am. Lots of flash bangs, and 23mm in the gauge. Rounds out the event here with just on 30mm. Nice tank topper and garden waterer. Some spots scored over 50mm, while a few missed out with less than 20mm, but overall a pretty general event.

Perhaps surprised not to see more for much of VIC. A very patchy and frustrating event for some, while a huge system for much of South Australia. Pretty typical positive SAM set up with lots of humidity and slow movement, fed by record warm Tasman Sea temps for the time of year.

Guess the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Jasper may end up travelling across the top end and perhaps a burst of humidity getting into the north west and working its way down south?

Or are there other signs?

Possible Jasper will come into play, though suspect the positive SAM which looks like dominating the next month or two will provide plenty of moisture. Then just need the triggers. Looks like the next easterly event is now now only a couple of days so new thread.

Back home from a week away. We scored 30.5mm for the dates, making 45mm mtd. And yes, time for a new thread.
