Bit of a spike in temperatures coming up later this week with mid 30s and even low 40s showing up in the progs for Friday to Sunday. Something around 42C possible in the Mallee, and around 35C in Melbs. Still no meaningful rain in the outlook away from western parts of Tasmania.
Couple of obscure numbers to watch on Saturday. Hottest day with an AFL game in Melbourne is 34.5C. That one is gone. Hottest anywhere game is 37,6C in Perth. Late season record for Melbourne is 38.9C. Think that’s a stretch.
Fire danger indices are nasty. Worst since early 2020. Still not much rain in the progs
We have missed the heat so far with 28C on Wednesday the warmest day for weeks. Cool, cloudy and windy today with a few spots of rain.
Doesn't look like our luck will hold for Saturday though - almost certainly in the low 30s here. But then mild to cool; even cold if the (very) unreliable models are to be believed!
Yeah looking forward to my last burst of summer heat Sat though last 2 days 28 29 here has been nice but high 30s cant wait hope chnaged delayed till 9pm or so
Then cool next week and yeah dont expect rain anytime soon drought is back for few years sucks
IOD and ENSO wont be kind next few years shame as last few years been great
Classic elevated warm front to start the day. High based showers. Once that moves through wind will get very gusty and temperatures will jump fast. Models have tended to drop today’s numbers by around a degree, though they’ve often been running a bit cool. Think about 37C in Melbourne.
Mostly dry front tonight for the mainland.
Signs that there could be a good rain event from around Tuesday next week as a trough deepens into a low in Bass Strait.
The temp is creeping up here. Currently 23c with a strong, gusty northerly. A total fire ban today.
Just amazed at how rapidly things have shifted from very wet to very dry. We're on heavy clay soil around here, so there's lots of cracked ground plus an infestation of crickets! Would be good if can get something decent this coming week. We had 2.4mm overnight on Thursday, but otherwise it has been a long time since we last had a solid rain event that actually gets moisture into the soil and doesn't evaporate the next day!
27.9° at home in Mt Macedon. Windy bit not terribly so.
Trentham has gone over 30°. Certainly hot for almost equinox.
Hope it's the last of it before we settle into a nice loooooong grey winter.
