Becoming cooler with showers and storms, possible snow on alps: March 5-10

Good blast of westerlies coming up with multiple troughs bringing showers to southern and mountain VIC and Tasmania. Does get repeatedly colder and is quite unstable so potential for storms (Monday early looks best) then snow on the alps by about Wednesday. Probably just flurries, but might get better than that. Totals will be heavy in western Tasmania, and moderate in southern and mountain parts if Victoria. Could locally top 100mm in Tas, and 50mm in the usual wet spots in Vic.

Nasty winds as you go north and hot, with near 40s for NSW. Could spell issues for grass fires up there.

Looks like a wet 24 hours for much of Vic and TAS. Further north less rain though some storms, then further north again the hottest day forecast in Sydney for something like three years tomorrow. Nasty air mass to our north will create issue for firies, while we stay in progressively cooler and shower conditions.

Waiting to board a plane to Sydney where the 850Ts are going to touch a scorching 25C this arvo. In theory that’s hot enough for about 42 to 43C at the surface Expect it to fall just short of 40C.

Looking statewide, it seems there were a lot of 10mm plus falls that weren't forecast; quite a few 20mm plus falls too.

15mm here. We were rain shadowed for the first part of the system, so I wasn't too hopeful. But then it threw it down in the second part, with especially heavy rain around midnight. A howling wind too. Good to have a bit of a boost to the tanks (we're on tank water only here), although we'll need another good downpour to get them full.
