Horrible day of disgusting windy filth here after absolutely perfect conditions yesterday. Very similar to last weekend, although was down on the island then so didn't experience the filth as much.

Starting to need a good drink out here in the western wasteland as things are really starting to dry out. Not far off having to dust of the sprinklers.

Progs really upping the next 72 hours. Widespread 20-50mm through central and east. Bit unclear about the north - probably a miss in the Mallee and Wimmera but further south and east should do quite well. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some local flooding in east central if the upper end of the progs happen.

Tasmania is also look wet. Widrepread 25-50mm through the south and east, and could well see pockets of over 100mm. Chilly, with some snow on the peaks. The low gets blocked and actually moves west for a period so will take a long time to clear, and could well get a decent wrap around,

Next week looks very different - hot and possibly humid later. Guess we will see. Some real heat in the northwest with 48.5C today which is probably an early season record for WA. Glad to see that heat stay up there :D

Event total of 20mm. More than I expected and there was also some small hail at one point last night.

Spring 2022 keeps doing its thing (clearly not summer yet).

19mm so far. That's 18 more than i expected honestly.

Looks to be one of those weeks where showers are on and off but totals will be high.

No summer just yet, can confirm 🤣

Another unexpectedly high total here, 21.5mm. Makes 1110mm ytd, passing 1094.5mm in 2011 to make 2022 our wettest year here (25 years).

Cutting firewood - again. But I'd choose this over drought and fires... not that I get to choose! (Somewhere in between would be nice.)

We got 16mm from steady overnight prefrontal rain, which followed a muggy calm overcast day of 26.5C.

Mild calm overcast now, more rain looming.

Yep, more than expected here too - 25.8mm. A mix of showers and rain periods with some heavy bursts at times. Things were starting to dry out a bit, so it's very welcome.

Our YTD is approx. 830mm. Not quite the 2010 record of 1061mm, but the most we've had in a calendar year since then.

Obs around the Bay reporting 80km/h
Glad I got the trees trimmed recently
Going to be a wild week ahead
My son comes back from the Prom today just in the nick of time

A scary burst of house-shaking wind with a cell that just passed over us - short-lived thankfully.

This week reminds me of early-December 1987 and a school camp I went on in South Gippsland where we had torrential rain, crazy winds, big surf, and wintry temps...

Gippsland looks set to get quite a bit of rain in the next few days with a persistent ECL likely to keep life interesting there.

So much for the "heralding of a period of sultry weather" this low is set to hang around to the E of Tassie, and create a "period of wintery weather":

Image

18.5mm here so far, with a cold squally westerly front passing this arvo.

Thread title needs editing I think mods? This is turning into a period of unusual cold.

Wind has been extreme too - surprised BOM haven't issued warnings. Quite a few trees down. In fact, though I'm not usually one to bag BOM, their forecasting efforts lately have been pretty underwhelming overall.
