Mid spring stinker as expected.

City's first 30C for spring, which comes about 10 days earlier than the long-term average. Not as early as some of the recent years, which is why people often get confused about what is "normal".

Nasty winds developing overnight. Expect a fair bit of tree damage as its the first big/hot blow for a long while. GFS not much interested in showers with tomorrow's front, while EC has been quite keen for areas east of Melbourne. It looks unstable, but moisture doesn't look great. More extensive showers on Saturday with a solid front and cold air.

Max temps in Tas today: Strahan 31.1, Ouse 30.6, Campania 29.6, Fingal 29.0, Launceston 26.1, Hobart 25.4, Wynyard 17.1

At 10 pm Maatsuyker Island (23.7) Tasmania's most southerly station is three degrees warmer than Brisbane (20.6)

Cool change moving through now. Temp has dropped from 27 to 21 here and still falling.

Looks like another official record warm night has been avoided thankfully.

Scoresby 27.5 just ad some fat drops enough to panic if outside, now stopped..

Crazy warm night in FC with big gusts roaring through the trees. Now the front is racing up, and looks like stopping a swag of records in central areas

EC keen on showers and storms rapidly developing the next few hours with moderate falls locally through central and eastern areas. Radar will be interesting. It does look very unstable, so wouldn't surprise if there was some rapid development.

Sky looks filthy out there - must be a lot of smoke and dust brought down from the northwest.

Strong front for tomorrow, though showers will tend to be mainly coastal and ranges.

Escaped the first drops of rain just before it started on the bike this morning. Not really expecting much out this way, 1mm if that.

Not a bad night here - we somehow seemed to miss the strong winds (so far?) which is very out of character for the last few months!

Currently 12C with dust-settling shower earlier. Got to 27C yesterday.

Temp in FC just dived from 23 to 13C. 1.4mm in the gauge.

Not sure whether to expect 2 or 10mm today. EC suggests 10mm, and it is usually pretty good

Any rain is welcome with a couple of spring stinkers next week.

Change here now in Northern Tassie. Hobart reached 28 before the change with the East Coast near 30 degrees.

Up to 5mm in FC now. Few rumbles, and apparently a rapid fire hail shower in the last few minutes up to about 1cm across. Wasn't expecting hail

Even the wind wasn't that strong, no callouts for any trees down in our area overnight/this morning.

Don't think this weather knows what it wants to do today. Currently we have mainly blue skies, sun, a few clouds, and drops are falling.

In Canberra ATM where it looks like a B grade movie. Sky is somewhere between orange and purple Big dust storms blowing out ahead of the "virga/rain". You could have almost surfed on the lake with white caps when I went past mid-arvo.

Back in FC,a wild roller coaster of a day. 23C most the night, dropped to 13C with the change just on 9am. Went into fog, got a storm with hail and 5mm of rain and now sunny again
